Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook a variety of meals following established recipes, dietary guidelines, and menu plans with precision and creativity.
- Ensure all food handling and preparation adhere strictly to food safety management and sanitizing procedures to prevent contamination.
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including ovens, grills, poaching pots, braising pans, and other culinary tools.
- Assist in menu planning by suggesting nutritious options that meet dietary restrictions and preferences.
- Maintain high-volume production standards while ensuring consistency in taste, presentation, and quality.
- Support the dietary department by managing food production schedules and ensuring timely meal service.
- Uphold food safety standards through proper food handling, storage, and sanitation practices at all times.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth kitchen operations during busy service periods or catering events.
Experience
- Proven experience as a cook or dietary aide in a healthcare facility, restaurant, or catering environment.
- Strong knowledge of food safety sanitizing procedures and food handling regulations.
- Demonstrated culinary skills including grilling, braising, poaching, and other cooking techniques.
- Experience with menu planning, recipe adherence, and high-volume food production.
- Familiarity with operating commercial kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
- Background in food industry settings with an emphasis on dietary needs or fine dining is preferred.
- Excellent knife skills and ability to prepare meals with precision and attention to detail.
- Prior experience working within a dietary department or healthcare setting is highly advantageous.
