Duties
- Perform thorough cleaning and sanitization of resident rooms, common areas, bathrooms, and hallways using appropriate cleaning agents and equipment.
- Handle laundry duties efficiently, ensuring linens, clothing, and other textiles are properly washed, dried, folded, and stored according to health standards.
- Maintain cleanliness of floors through sweeping, mopping, buffing, and carpet care using specialized floor care equipment.
- Safely handle chemical agents and cleaning supplies in accordance with OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) guidelines to prevent hazards.
- Follow strict safety protocols during manual handling tasks such as heavy lifting of furniture or equipment to prevent injury.
- Ensure all cleaning tools and equipment are maintained in good working order and stored securely after use.
- Adhere to healthcare infection prevention and control standards by following sanitation procedures meticulously.
- Support environmental services operations by managing waste disposal safely and efficiently.
- Demonstrate excellent customer service skills by interacting professionally with residents, visitors, and staff while maintaining a positive attitude.
Experience
- Previous janitorial or custodial experience in healthcare facilities or similar environments is highly preferred.
- Familiarity with hospital or long-term care housekeeping procedures is advantageous.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations related to chemical handling, safe lifting practices, and environmental safety is essential.
- Experience operating cleaning equipment such as floor buffers, extractors, or steam cleaners is desirable.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while following proper ergonomic techniques.
- Strong understanding of sanitation standards specific to healthcare settings for infection prevention and control purposes.
- Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety.
