What are the responsibilities and job description for the MOTOR CARRIER SPECIALIST I, CALIFORNIA HIGHWAY PATROL position at California Highway Patrol?
Under general supervision, checks motor carrier for compliance with the California Highway Patrol administrative regulations relating to safety, maintenance and operational practices; perform in-depth vehicle inspections for annual certifications, makes recommendations regarding the granting of PUC operating authority; inspects carrier and chipper facilities for compliance with state and federal regulations pertaining to documentation of hazardous materials and wastes; prepares comprehensive written reports of inspections conducted; makes detailed investigations of vehicles involved in accidents to determine if cause was mechanical; assists in preparation of complaints, reports and exhibits; testifies as a witness in court. This is for a position in San Francisco County.

The CHP utilizes their own Motor Carrier Specialist I certification list. Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications for the Motor Carrier Specialist I classification to be eligible to take the examination. Salary : $62,496 - $83,016
