What are the responsibilities and job description for the COMMERCIAL VEHICLE INSPECTION SPECIALIST position at California Highway Patrol?
Under the close supervision of a sergeant, the duties of the position include, but are not limited to, routine inspections on commercial-type vehicles to determine compliance with weight, size, registration, safety, equipment requirements; inspect and test all types of commercial vehicle brake systems for compliance with the vehicle code and other applicable laws/regulations, referring violations to an enforcement officer for action when necessary, and attends required training.

The facility is operational 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. CVIS are assigned to one of four (4) shifts and participate in a 9/80 Alternate Workweek Program: four 9-hour days, consecutive with one 8-hour day (on alternate weeks).
