$5,307.00 - $7,306.00 The Orange County Communications Center dispatch employees receive an additional $750.00 recruitment and retention monthly pay differential. Part-time and intermittent employees shall receive a pro-rata share of the monthly differential based on the total number of hours worked within the monthly pay period.
New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable.

This position requires the ability to type at a minimum speed designated on the Classification Specifications (link available in the minimum requirements section).  You must obtain a valid typing certificate confirming your ability to meet the minimum typing speed prior to being hired.  Additional information regarding acceptable typing tests:  https://www.calcareers.ca.gov/CalHRPublic/GeneralInfo/TypingCertification.aspx

Possession of Minimum Qualifications will be verified prior to appointment. To satisfy the minimum qualification requirement with education, you must include your unofficial transcript(s)/diploma for initial review. Original diploma or official, sealed transcripts will be required prior to the start date. Applicants with foreign transcript(s)/degree(s) must provide a third-party transcript/degree credential evaluation that indicates the number of units to which the foreign coursework is equivalent.

The CHP utilizes their own Public Safety Dispatcher certification list. Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications for the Public Safety Dispatcher classification to be eligible to take the examination. To obtain certification list eligibility, please view the examination bulletin link below and follow all instructions. In addition to applying for the examination, applicants MUST submit an application to this Job Control to be considered for the position.

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
  • Ability to maintain a good rapport with employees, peers, supervisors, allied agencies and the public. Reporting to work on time with a minimum of absences. Willingness to work nights, weekends and holidays. A positive attitude. Ability to take independent action. Confidentiality is essential in the position. This classification requires a net typing speed of 40 words per minute.

Salary : $63,684 - $87,672
