Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1 years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

As a Teacher for the Visually Impaired, you will play a vital role in helping 20-23 students reach their greatest potential, providing instruction, advocacy, and specialized support based on their individual learning needs.
With a consistent, onsite schedule of 37.5 hours per week, you will have the chance to build meaningful relationships with your students while collaborating with school staff and families. Your expertise will empower students to access curriculum, navigate school environments, and grow both academically and personally.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid North Carolina Teaching Certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Demonstrated experience working with children and youth who are visually impaired, preferably in an educational setting
- Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills
- Ability to design and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Familiarity with assistive technology and Braille instruction is a plus
Core Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and consultative services for a caseload of 20-23 students with varying needs
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs for each student on your caseload
- Assess functional vision and learning needs in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
- Offer guidance on specialized instructional materials, devices, and classroom modifications
- Support students’ development of life skills, advocacy, and independence
- Communicate effectively with staff, families, and outside agencies to ensure student success
