Make a difference this summer by supporting student health and wellness as a contract Registered Nurse in a dynamic educational environment near Simi Valley, CA. Work closely with medically complex as well as general education students during Extended School Year (ESY) and supplemental summer programs held on multiple campuses. This contract opportunity offers a unique chance to apply your nursing expertise on select dates in June and July, working regular daytime hours and collaborating with dedicated education teams.
Key qualifications and experience:
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California
- Current Credentialed School Nurse certification—a requirement for this position
- Prior experience with school nursing, especially supporting students with medically complex needs, is highly valued
- Knowledge of IEPs, healthcare protocols, and developmentally appropriate nursing care in school settings
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities
Role responsibilities:
- Provide direct nursing care to students, including medically complex cases and general education participants, during ESY and general education summer programs
- Distribute medications, manage treatments, and respond to health emergencies per students’ care plans
- Collaborate with school staff and families to ensure student safety, well-being, and participation in academic activities
- Maintain detailed documentation for all services rendered
- Travel to multiple program sites as scheduled, adapting quickly to new environments
ESY assignments run from 7am-2pm on June 11, June 26, June 29, July 6, July 7, July 13, and July 14. General education program dates are July 20, July 24, July 27, and July 29 with the same daily hours.
