What are the responsibilities and job description for the Controller position at AVAILABILITY Professional Staffing?
We’re hiring a hands-on Controller to bring structure, consistency, and leadership to our accounting operations. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building strong processes, improving reporting, and partnering closely with ownership in a job-based environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own and improve a repeatable month-end close process
- Prepare monthly P&Ls and quarterly financial reports
- Reconcile bank accounts and QuickBooks Online monthly
- Develop and manage department budgets and cash flow forecasts
- Oversee AP/AR functions, including AR aging and collections
- Audit project and employee-related invoices
- Maintain vendor files and support vendor negotiations
- Partner with the CFO and CPA on reporting, tax planning, and year-end close
- Help maintain lines of credit, loans, and profit-share tracking
- Support risk management and insurance coordination
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 5–8 years of progressive accounting experience
- Strong QuickBooks Online and Excel skills
- Experience with job-costing or bid-based accounting strongly preferred
- Detail-oriented, proactive, and process-driven
