Safety Coordinator
The Safety Coordinator supports the Division Safety Leader and Operations team in promoting and maintaining a safe work environment across fabrication facilities in Maryland. This role focuses on day-to-day safety support, compliance monitoring, employee engagement, and documentation to ensure adherence to company policies and OSHA regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct routine walkthroughs of fabrication facilities to monitor compliance with company, state, and federal OSHA regulations
- Partner with supervisors and employees to identify hazards and assist in implementing corrective actions
- Document safety inspections, near-misses, and incidents; track corrective actions to completion
- Assist with maintaining required safety documentation, including accident reports, inspection logs, and training records
- Support accident and injury investigations and help prepare required documentation
- Reinforce company safety policies and safe work practices in the field
- Provide guidance to employees on general industry safety standards (OSHA CFR 1910)
- Assist with delivering safety meetings and toolbox talks
- Monitor trends in incidents and injuries and communicate findings to leadership
- Support emergency response efforts as needed
- Promote a positive safety culture through strong communication and conflict resolution skills
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
- 2–4 years of general industry safety experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Environmental Health, or related field (completed or in progress) OR OSHA 30 certification required
- OSHA 10 certification preferred
- CPR/First Aid/AED certification preferred
- Working knowledge of OSHA CFR 1910 (general industry standards)
- Strong conflict resolution and interpersonal skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with employees at all levels
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to work in a fast-paced fabrication/shop environment
- Ability to travel to fabrication locations within Maryland as needed
