What are the responsibilities and job description for the Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS) Designer position at Aperture Group?
We are seeking an experienced Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS) Designer to support in-building wireless and public safety communication system projects within a commercial electrical construction environment. This role is ideal for someone who has hands-on DAS design experience and the required certifications, and who enjoys working closely with project teams from design through commissioning and final system acceptance.
What You’ll Do
- Design in-building DAS and public safety communication systems for commercial projects
- Develop RF designs, layouts, calculations, and construction drawings ready for plan check
- Conduct site walks and coordinate with field teams, contractors, and project managers
- Support installation, testing, optimization, and commissioning of DAS systems
- Ensure compliance with public safety codes, carrier standards, and AHJ requirements
- Prepare BOMs, as-built drawings, and commissioning documentation
- Respond to plan check comments and coordinate approvals with AHJs
Required Certifications
- iBwave Design Certification – Level 2
- FCC GROL License
- NICET In-Building Public Safety Communications – Design Certification
- Factory training on DAS equipment (Honeywell, FiPlex, or similar)
Preferred Experience
- NICET Level 2 or Level 3 (Public Safety Communications)
- Experience working with fire marshals and public safety agencies
- Strong familiarity with iBwave and DAS testing equipment
- Ability to manage multiple projects and collaborate across teams
Salary : $90,000 - $125,000
