Role Summary
The Senior Accountant will be responsible for financial reporting, complex accounting judgments, and tax-related support across multiple entities and industries. This role reviews and oversees accounting work, ensures compliance with GAAP, and partners with management, auditors, and tax advisors.
Key Responsibilities
A. Financial & General Accounting
- Lead month-end and year-end close processes for multi-entity operations
- Prepare and review financial statements and supporting schedules
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations and variance analysis
- Establish and maintain internal controls and accounting policies
B. Construction & Engineering Accounting
- Review job costing, budgets, and Work-in-Progress (WIP) reports
- Oversee revenue recognition using Percentage of Completion (POC) or Completed Contract Method
- Review AIA G702/G703 progress billings and vendor pay applications
- Ensure proper allocation of labor, materials, subcontractors, and overhead
C. Inventory & Cost Accounting
- Oversee inventory valuation (FIFO/Average Cost)
- Review material cost analysis, freight allocation, and margin reporting
- Ensure accurate depreciation and inventory reserve calculations
D. Retail & E-Commerce Accounting
- Review POS and e-commerce revenue reconciliations
- Analyze margins, discounts, returns, and promotional impacts
- Oversee AR related to customer financing and installment plans
E. Real Estate Accounting & Investment Support
- Review land acquisition, development, and construction costs
- Ensure proper capitalization of soft and hard costs
- Account for construction draws, loan drawdowns, and interest capitalization
- Maintain depreciation schedules (MACRS)
- Support investor capital tracking, distributions, and K-1 preparation
Tax & Compliance
- Support federal, state, and local tax filings
- Oversee subcontractor 1099 compliance and reporting
- Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 5–8 years of progressive accounting experience
- Strong experience in construction accounting required
- Exposure to retail, inventory, or real estate accounting preferred
- CPA or CPA-track strongly preferred
