Job Title: Payroll Tax Specialist
Location: The Woodlands, TX (Hybrid)
About the Role
We’re looking for a Payroll Tax Analyst who is detail-oriented, proactive, and passionate about ensuring compliance and accuracy in payroll tax processing. In this role, you’ll work directly with clients, tax authorities, and internal teams to deliver an exceptional experience while maintaining compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
What You’ll Do
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll tax deposits, filings, and payments for clients across multiple jurisdictions.
- Research and interpret federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations to ensure compliance.
- Identify and resolve payroll tax discrepancies efficiently by collaborating with clients and tax agencies.
- Provide high-quality support to clients, tax authorities, and internal teams, maintaining a strong focus on service excellence.
- Prepare and submit quarterly and annual bulk payroll tax filings, including electronic and paper returns.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory changes in payroll tax laws and communicate their impact to clients and internal stakeholders.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize tax workflows, enhance automation, and improve the overall client experience.
What We’re Looking For
- 5 years of hands-on payroll tax processing and filing experience, preferably within a payroll service provider environment.
- Proven ability to manage multiple client accounts and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong customer service orientation with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Experience navigating multiple payroll or tax software systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP) is a plus.
- Familiarity with bulk tax filing platforms (EFTPS, state e-file portals) is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax laws and regulations.
- Highly organized with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
