Position Overview
We’re looking for a creative and enthusiastic Sculpture Instructor to introduce young artists to the exciting world of 3D art. This role is perfect for someone who loves working with kids and helping them turn imagination into form through hands-on projects. You’ll guide students through sculptural techniques using various materials while encouraging exploration, problem-solving, and artistic confidence.
Term: Winter
Schedule: After-School Program | 2-3 hours per week
Grade Levels: TK–8
Location: Napa, CA
Responsibilities
- Plan and Teach Projects: Lead engaging sculpture lessons tailored to K–8 students, focusing on essential 3D art skills such as modeling, carving, and assembling.
- Demonstrate and Support: Provide step-by-step instruction and individual guidance to help students develop technique and creativity.
- Encourage Experimentation: Foster curiosity by introducing diverse materials and styles that inspire expression and innovation.
- Create a Safe Studio Environment: Maintain a well-organized, inclusive, and supportive classroom where students feel free to explore.
- Model Safe Practices: Teach appropriate use of tools and materials to promote safety and responsibility.
- Collaborate with Staff: Communicate with program coordinators and school partners to ensure smooth operations and adequate supplies.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in sculpture, ceramics, or other 3D visual arts.
- Experience teaching or mentoring youth in an art or enrichment setting.
- Effective communication and classroom management abilities.
- Creative, adaptable, and patient teaching approach that supports different skill levels.
- Reliable, organized, and committed to student safety and program consistency.
- Must pass a background check prior to hire.
