What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead LEGO Robotics Instructor – K–5 Program position at After School Specials?
We are seeking a Lead LEGO Robotics Instructor to teach hands-on robotics and engineering lessons for K–5 grade students in San Francisco. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys guiding young learners through building challenges, simple programming, and creative problem-solving using LEGO robotics kits.
Students will explore engineering concepts, teamwork, and beginner-friendly coding as they build and program robots in fun, engaging, and age-appropriate ways.
Responsibilities:
- Lead hands-on LEGO robotics lessons for K–5 students using LEGO Education platforms (Spike Essential, Spike Prime, or similar).
- Teach basic engineering, block-based coding, and problem-solving through structured challenges and open-ended projects.
- Support students as they build, test, and refine their robots.
- Adapt activities for different ages and skill levels to ensure every student stays engaged.
- Maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Coordinate with site staff and program leaders to ensure smooth daily operation of the program.
Qualifications:
- Experience teaching or leading robotics, STEM, or engineering programs for children.
- Familiarity with LEGO robotics kits and block-based coding.
- Strong classroom management and communication skills.
- Reliable transportation and flexible availability during school hours (Monday–Friday).
- Must pass a background check and complete required onboarding.
Program Details:
- Hours: 10–19 hours per week
- Schedule: Not yet finalized, must be reliably available during regular school hours, Monday–Friday
