Position Overview
We are seeking a creative and dedicated Sculpture Instructor to lead engaging after-school art sessions for students in grades K–8. This position is ideal for individuals with a strong background in sculpture or 3D art who are excited to share their skills and inspire young learners to explore their artistic potential. The instructor will guide students through hands-on projects that encourage creativity, problem-solving, and personal expression through various sculptural techniques and materials.
Key Responsibilities
- Curriculum Design: Develop and deliver an age-appropriate sculpture curriculum that introduces students to basic 3D art concepts, materials, and techniques such as modeling, carving, assembling, and mixed media.
- Hands-On Instruction: Demonstrate and teach foundational sculpture skills while adapting lessons to meet different age levels and abilities.
- Creative Exploration: Encourage students to experiment with different materials and forms, fostering individual artistic expression and confidence.
- Classroom Environment: Maintain an organized, safe, and inspiring classroom space that supports creativity and collaboration.
- Safety Education: Provide clear instruction on the safe and proper use of art tools and materials.
- Communication: Coordinate with site staff and program leaders to manage materials, track attendance, and share student progress.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in sculpture, ceramics, or 3D art with a solid understanding of relevant tools and materials.
- Prior experience teaching or working with children, with the ability to engage and inspire students of various ages.
- Strong organizational, classroom management, and communication skills.
- Creativity and flexibility in lesson planning and instructional methods.
- Commitment to student safety and inclusive learning.
- Must successfully pass a background check.
