Position Overview
Our client is seeking a Payroll Specialist to support payroll operations for a large multi-state workforce. This individual will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing while assisting with employee payroll inquiries, reporting, and related administrative functions. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with recurring deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with processing bi-weekly payroll for employees across the U.S. and Canada using payroll/HRIS systems
- Review and process payroll adjustments including terminations, bonuses, retroactive pay, and other off-cycle requests
- Maintain employee payroll records, deductions, garnishments, and benefit contributions to ensure accuracy
- Partner with internal departments to resolve payroll discrepancies and respond to employee inquiries in a timely manner
- Support payroll reporting, reconciliations, and related accounting activities
- Coordinate with external payroll providers on payroll processing and compliance matters
- Assist with maintaining payroll procedures, documentation, and system updates
- Support preparation and submission of indirect tax filings including sales & use tax, business registrations, and annual property tax filings
- Participate in special projects, audits, and process improvement initiatives
- 2 years of payroll or related accounting experience
- Experience supporting multi-state or high-volume payroll environments
- Familiarity with payroll systems or HRIS platforms; Workday experience preferred
- Strong attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet recurring deadlines
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information professionally
