Zenith American is Hiring a Payroll Specialist (HR) Near Tampa, FL

Title: Payroll Specialist Department: HR

Bargaining Unit: NBU Grade: N/A

Position Type: Non-Exempt Hours: 40

Location: Tampa - Hybrid

Position Summary

The Payroll Specialist assists in performing payroll functions in accordance with the Company guidelines and legislative requirements.

"Has minimum necessary access to Protected Health Information (PHI) and Personally Identifiable Information (PII) by Job Description/Role."

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists in ensuring accurate payroll processing by collecting, validating, and organizing Company and, employee data.
  • Assists with audits and verifies payroll related data including new hires, terminated employees, changes to employee personal information, and employee pay or status changes.
  • Assists in verifying timesheet completeness and calculations; ensures appropriate approvals have been administered and special pay codes have been applied accurately.
  • Reviews and enters union employee deductions in accordance with state and Collective Bargaining Agreement rules.
  • Assists with miscellaneous audit requests
  • Assists with triage of the payroll email box and responds to payroll related questions and resolves issues.
  • Prepares and reconciles union dues including payments to unions.
  • Provides standard and ad-hoc reporting as needed.
  • Assists with state and federal compliance reporting.
  • Handles various payroll related duties.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma of GED
  • 2 years of Workday Payroll processing experience
  • 2 years of related experience.
  • Working knowledge of payroll systems and standard payroll processing practices.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Computer proficiency including MS Office tools and applications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associates degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations and compliance requirements related to employee pay.

Working Conditions/Physical Effort

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
