ZAG Technical Services is Hiring a Controller Near San Jose, CA
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Directs the preparation of all financial reports, including cash flow management, income statements, balance sheets, reports to shareholders, tax returns and reports for government regulatory agencies.
- Provides leadership and guidance for the Company in the following areas: project budgeting, financial statements, payroll, cash management, accounts receivable, accounts payable.
- Meets regularly with department heads to keep informed and to offer direction.
- Acts as a liaison between the company, government and auditors in providing the required information and ensuring that proper information is maintained for historical purposes.
- Provide proactive financial data and analysis to management for timely managerial decisions and controls.
- Help focus the organization and individual business unit managers on revenue maximization and margin optimization
- Reviews reports to analyze projections of sales and profit against actual figures, budgeted expenses against final totals and suggests methods of improving the planning process as appropriate.
- Develops, reviews, revises as necessary and implements internal accounting processes, procedures, and tools with the goal of reducing unnecessary bureaucracy, including providing training to appropriate staff.
- Leads annual and as-needed audits of internal accounting processes.
Desired Skills/Abilities:
- Comprehensive knowledge of GAAP Project accounting experience a plus
- Strong MS Excel experience
- Ability to lead through pragmatic and logical influence with business acumen
- Proficiency in training and managing support staff
- Knowledge of database and accounting computer applications systems to supply the most accurate financial information.
- Ability to perform duties and responsibilities promptly and consistently with little or no direct supervision.
- Objectively appraise and analyze the qualifications and performance of others as well as the ability to plan and direct their activities; and to judge the appropriate action in response to changes, circumstances or problems
- Timely and accurately invoice billing statements to build and maintain a strong working relationship between ZAG and its clients
- Maintain a level of professionalism and provide quality customer service whenever client interfacing is involved.
- Mentor and support 2-3 team members to assist in their professional and technical development.
Education, Certification, and Experience:
- 10 years of experience in financial management/accounting with demonstrated levels of increased responsibilities including presenting financial results to senior management.
- CPA or demonstrated strong technical accounting expertise
- Prior working knowledge of a major accounting system (e.g. Quickbooks, NetSuite, SAP)
- Experience in Professional service industry (IT, law, medical, architecture, engineering, construction, etc.) a plus.
- 1-3 years of related experience in Project Accounting, Client Billing or Contract Administration preferred though not required.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or business administration.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
