Compensation for this role:
Starting Pay: $22-$25 per hour, depending on experience.
Additional Pay Opportunities
Bilingual Pay Differential – additional $3 per hour pay premium for employees who utilize a qualifying second

language in the workplace, applicable to all hours worked.
Position Status: Full-time, hourly, non-exempt
Schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday 9:00am-5:00pm; this positon has some scheduling flexibility and hybrid work
from home options.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR –

Primary duties are to provide housing advocacy for individuals in intimate partner Domestic Violence relationships
staying at our shelters and hotels and in our aftercare services. To empower survivors through self-advocacy, to assist
participants with safety planning and to provide options and resources for people in crisis.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING –
This position’s primary responsibilities include;
  • Provide housing advocacy to survivors that identify a housing need and are referred by their shelter advocate. This
includes systems advocacy, DV education, safety planning, crisis intervention, resource referral and goal setting.
  • Provide housing aftercare services to participants enrolled in aftercare services.
  • Perform advocacy for survivors that will be empowering and apply the diversion first model. This ensures that

survivors are able to utilize all of the safe resource options available to them before financial interventions are
offered. All financial interventions will be offered using progressive engagement.

  • Request, receive and process applications for prevention/rehousing/relocation in an efficient and timely manner.
Ensuring that the applicant is eligible for the service requested and communicating a clear time line for the process.
  • Assist as needed with housing inspections of participants units as required by some grants.
  • Providing after-care housing advocacy in a mobile manner which may mean meeting clients in their units or out in
the community.
  • Provide on-going housing advocacy for survivors whom identify as needing assistance with the housing program.

Triages and assesses the frequency and urgency of client’s need for on-going advocacy and safety planning.
Utilizing YWCA approved housing stability goals sheets.

  • Communicate with local landlords, housing programs, and other community partners on what housing and other
resources the YWCA has as well as what available units and/or resources they have available.
  • Attend appropriate community meetings related to housing, education, and keep a good working knowledge of
housing options for survivors of DV.
  • Assist shelter participants on completing Section 8 applications and after care services.
  • Facilitate monthly road to rending class at the shelter.
  • Participate in housing walk in’s on rotation with the outreach housing team.
  • Maintain client files and tracks records in accordance with YWCA policies and standards.
  • Assist the Housing Outreach Manager with tracking/recording statistical data for grants when needed.
  • Attend weekly Housing Department Staff Meetings.

Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree in social sciences or related field, experience or equivalent combination of education and

experience preferred.
  • Domestic Violence advocacy and/or housing advocacy experience is highly desirable.
  • Must maintain 20 hours of ongoing training on domestic violence issues annually.

Additional Requirements:
• Applicants must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain current and valid vehicle insurance as a

mandatory requirement for this position, involving frequent travel to various locations.
