Starting Pay: $25-$29 per hour
Position Status: Full-time, non-exempt, hourly
Schedule: 30 hours/week, during normal M-F 8:00am-5:00pm business hours

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR -
The DV Firearm Investigator is an innovative position whose work will entail working with law enforcement to
compile and provide complete information regarding perpetrators’ access to weapons and potential threat of harm
to victims, officers, and the public. This position will provide this pertinent information to prosecutors prior to first
appearance. This position will also work to help quickly resolve technical problems with orders for service/surrender,
while also providing weekly orders to surrender weapons noncompliance notices to law enforcement for follow up.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING -
The essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Follow established protocols for collecting firearm purchase data from lethality assessments (LAPs), National
Law Enforcement Telecommunications System, and the pawn database
  • Follow data collection and submission process to give prosecutors evidence to make informed

recommendations about weapons during First Appearance, with priority given to cases that screen in through
the Eastern Washington Lethality Assessment Program

  • Communicate Orders to Surrender Weapons resulting from no contact orders and domestic violence civil
protection orders to law enforcement, integrating Eastern Washington Lethality Assessment Program data to
prioritize cases with a high probability of lethality
  • Conduct extensive follow-up investigations with victims and witness to confirm non-compliance or compliance
with the surrender to firearms order.
  • Assist the ex-parte commissioners and judges presiding over civil domestic violence hearing by gathering
information and coordinate directing with law enforcement and prosecutors when enforcement is needed
  • Prepare status updates about offender compliance and the status of outstanding orders to Firearms
Investigative Analyst
  • In conjunction with the SFJC Leadership Team, conduct weekly review of Orders to Surrender Weapons from
criminal and civil cases, assign follow-up, and monitor progress
  • Place calls to offenders to schedule collection of weapons.
  • On a quarterly basis, track orders to surrender weapons compliance as a percentage of total cases and

continue to develop new strategies to increase performance
WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE POSITION -

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in social work, criminal justice or related field preferred.
Competencies:
  • Understanding of court system, law enforcement, and/or domestic violence services.
  • Excellent relationship-building skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
  • Excellent customer service skills, including having strong interpersonal and communication skills (both

orally and in writing) to successfully interact with judicial officers (as appropriate and as needed), law
enforcement personnel, court/prosecutor personnel, victims, and other involved agencies.

  • Extensive knowledge of court orders, court systems, order processes, and domestic violence preferred.
  • Experience setting up data tracking systems, collecting, analyzing, and sharing data preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact,
professionalism, and diplomacy.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
