Compensation: $18.75 per hour

Days: Monday - Friday

Hours: 6:45-8:30 am and/or Monday/Tues/Thurs/Friday 2:45-6 pm Wednesday 1:30-6:00 pm

Afternoon Hours are required

This role operates from mid August - mid June and follows the public school calendar.

The School-age Lead Assistant will provide a supportive, respectful, safe and healthy environment for children enrolled in YWCA Kidslink program. Plan and manage the delivery of age appropriate programs and activities that foster the physical, emotional, intellectual and social development of the children enrolled in the program. 

 Essential Functions of the job:

  • Follows State and YWCA protocol for reporting suspected child abuse and neglect; 
  • Responds to all medical situations and initiate appropriate intervention to ensure the health and safety of all children;
  •  Receives, secures and dispenses prescription medication in accordance with defined procedures and physician directives;
  • Oversees the daily attendance and maintain ratios;
  • Builds and maintain positive relationships with all constitutes including but not limited to parents, students, staff and school personal;
  • Monitors facility equipment and material used are fully compliant with State licensing requirements;
  • Plans and manages the delivery of age appropriate programs and activities that foster the physical, emotional, intellectual, social development and homework of the children enrolled in the program; 
  • Identifies children needing additional support and implement differentiated instruction;
  • Utilizes the appropriate steps within the YWCA Positive Guidance Policy and work collaboratively with the staff, school and family to work through the appropriate process to support children with additional needs.
  • Facilitates effective communication between staff and parents in the resolution of issues or concerns;
  • Identifies developing issues among staff in the classroom and implements appropriate interventions to maintain a safe and orderly environment;
  • Provides timely and accurate feedback to staff. Escalates ongoing performance concerns to the Site Supervisor and/or Site Manager;
  • Ensures that the Site Supervisor or Manager, School-age and Summer Programs is aware of program related issues that may impact service quality, licensing, child safety, health and parent satisfaction;
  • Models a degree of professional decorum and dresses appropriate to the programs mission and values to ensure achievement of the same by staff members;
  • Remains current with trends, development and best practices in the field of childcare and early childhood education.

Requirements

Education: 

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required;
  • Must be current with all required training or have the ability to compete training as assigned.

Experience: 

Minimum of one (1) year of work experience in an educational setting with children K-5th grade required;

  • Ability to lead others and work as a team;
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge of best practices.

License or Certifications: 

CPR/First Aid Certified or the ability to obtain certification within the first two months of employment; 

  • Must have reliable transportation,

Schedule:

  • The School-age Lead Assistant is a nonexempt hourly position.
  • Work schedule Monday – Friday, 6:45am to 8:30am and 2:45pm to 6:00pm. Due to the nature of the work, evening hours will be required;

Travel: 

  • Depending on enrollment and staffing needs, employees may be asked to provide support to other Kidslink programs occasionally.
