Youth Action Project is Hiring a Site Coordinator (FT) Near San Bernardino, CA

Summary:The Site Coordinator (SC) manages all aspects of their assigned program site(s) to ensure effective service delivery. To accomplish this goal, the SC must: lead a team of at least 6 Youth Leads and support AmeriCorps member participants. SCs establish positive relationships with school personnel, collaborate with other campus-based service providers, effectively engage students and parents and support the peer coordinators as needed in program implementation. This position requires employees to drive to numerous varied community events and training.
Primary Responsibilities:Site Management:
  • In consultation with Youth Action Project (YAP) programming team, create and implement after-school programming designed to create pathways to careers with sustainable incomes by facilitating academic achievement, access to higher education, creating awareness of in-demand job sectors, soft skills coaching, and incubating entrepreneurial aspirations.
  • Ensure appropriate and accurate data is collected from students and mentors assigned to site(s); maintain digital and physical files for students assigned to site(s) while following confidentiality protocols; responsible for completion of all required forms, reports, and data entry.
  • Maintain an inviting, orderly, and fun environment suitable for learning.
  • Responsible for site(s)’s recruitment activities and student enrollment & retention rates.
  • Use YAP’s service model with fidelity to enhance service quality and maximize impact; ensure that service tools are utilized effectively; monitor the progress towards pre-determined weekly and monthly deliverables.
  • Build and cultivate a strong partnership with faculty, staff, and community at the assigned school site(s) 
  • Participate in meetings throughout the year to integrate YAP as a partner of the host site; use data strategically to gain school support for YAP’s services and to demonstrate their effectiveness; partner with after-school provider agencies that overlap with YAP to develop cohesive plans for service delivery.
  • Serve as a member of YAP’s program leadership team, setting the vision for program implementation and approach.
  • Meet or exceed service partner satisfaction goals as indicated by mid and end-of-year service partner surveys.
Team Management:
  • Lead, manage, and coach a team of Youth Leads to implement Youth Action Project’s service model, which includes a balance of academic support and enrichment activities.
  • Lead team in embedding the vision, mission, and values of the Youth Action Project into the daily implementation of practices at the site.
  • Assist with recruiting, selecting, enrolling, and training new team members.
  • Ensure all team members comply with YAP’s and District policies and procedures.
  • Actively support AmeriCorps members in service with regular observation and coaching; AmeriCorps members are coached to meet the performance standards expected of all YAP members.
  • Collaborate with Young Scholars leadership team to assess, identify, and address youth lead and AmeriCorps members’ professional development needs; assist with performance evaluations and goal-setting for team members assigned to site(s).
  • Ensure the professional accountability of all team members through ongoing one-on-one check-ins and formal performance reviews.
Additional Duties:
  • Support leadership in managing designated projects, programs, and/or grants. Will support managing at least one grant/program in addition to coordinator duties as assigned by Program Director
  • Identify and develop workshops and activities to inform and engage parents.
  • Attend and help support the organization’s events.
  • Communicate regularly with supervisor to problem solve and prioritize projects and tasks.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in education or a related field is strongly preferred.
  • Experience working in a school, educational or youth-support setting and a minimum of 2 years in a role managing or leading others, with proven ability to deliver solid and measurable results required; experience working in areas related to English Language Arts, math, behavior management, after school programming or social work preferred.
  • Proven success operating in ambiguous and changing environments with the demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize projects, delegate tasks appropriately, and manage progress against goals for self and others while addressing barriers.
  • Possesses openness, responsiveness, approachability, and understanding of others' perspectives with the demonstrated ability to maintain and build relationships through collaboration.
  • Demonstrated ability to address and resolve team conflict effectively and tactfully
  • Ability to remain calm and focused under pressure.

Requirements:
  • Ability to work the flexible hours demanded by a deadline-driven position.
  • The person in this position frequently communicates with students, parents, and stakeholders on behalf of the organization. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations professionally.
  • Must have reliable transportation to travel between the YAP office and school site(s) and attend meetings as required.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid California Driver's License, be insurable, and have/maintain a good driving record throughout employment. In addition, the applicant must have access to a dependable vehicle and maintain state-mandated personal automobile insurance coverage throughout employment.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel), Google Suite, and project management software.
