POSITION SUMMARY:

The Membership Coordinator is responsible for providing leadership and support to ensure the growth of the branch’s membership. In addition, every position in the YMCA of Coastal Georgia, Inc. is responsible for upholding the Judeo-Christian principles that are central to our mission by modeling behaviors that exemplify the four pillars of character - caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Plan and participate in membership retention goals and promotions
• Assist Branch Director in interviews, staffing, training, and supervising welcome center staff
• Assist in the design and implementation of new programs that enhance membership service
• Provide leadership for all membership staff including, but not limited to, demonstrating outstanding customer service, serving as a resource for problem situations, and planning appropriate training experiences
• Provide leadership and customer service at the front desk including but not limited to instruction and support for answering the telephone, giving tours, receipting all fees received and managing communications with members
• Assist the Executive Director as needed in managing the branch facilities and programs
• Assist in the overall retention and satisfaction of YMCA members through appropriate customer service
• Assist in the Annual Campaign fundraising program for the YMCA
• Maintain a positive and cheerful attitude with staff, peers, and program participants
• Performs all other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS:

• Minimum high school diploma required; associate degree preferred.
• Sound working knowledge of customer service skills.
• Ability to develop and implement programs and procedures that enhance customer service and retention.
• Strong organizational skills/excellent public speaking skills/strong writing skills.
• Knowledge of marketing and promotion techniques.
• Ability to foster positive staff, peer, and program participant relationships.
• Ability to supervise multiple part-time and full-time staff.
• CPR and First Aid required within 30 days of employment.
• Must be able to pass a criminal background check and obtain authorization to work with children under the Georgia Department of Labor and YMCA guidelines.
