Yoshida Foods International is Hiring a Food Manufacturing Purchasing Manager (FT) Near Portland, OR

SUMMARY:
Responsible for the management and purchasing of all ingredients and packing items to meet production demands in an industrial food production facility. Will have supervisory authority over our buyers and eventually Inventory Control.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
  • Starting wage range $65000 to $70,000.

WORK EXPERIENCE:
  • At least one year of purchasing in the food industry is highly preferred.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Create and issue purchase orders with quantities, due dates & freight arrangements.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of items.
  • Keep warehouse informed on all items to be received.
  • Maintain purchase records.
  • Assign and establish work-in-progress, finished goods, ingredients, and packaging item numbers used in production.
  • Build and maintain product structures for all finished goods on production lines.
  • Form and maintain effective working relationships with suppliers.
  • Perform vendor audits to ensure the best pricing of ingredients and packaging items.
  • Create and maintain shipping instructions.
  • Assist with negotiation of annual contracts.
  • Work with management to facilitate special projects or fast-tracked materials needs.
  • Work with the Accounting department to resolve any credit hold issues.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Able to manage many documents and orders at a time.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic math skills.
EQUIPMENT, MACHINERY, TOOLS USE:
  • Office equipment - computer, calculator, copier.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Sitting at the computer for long periods of time.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
