About the JobThe Group Leader position is responsible for assisting the School Age Child Care Director/Site Director/Senior Group Leader in the daily operations of the program. Responsible for the planning, development and implementation of all the before and after school activities under the guidelines of the YMCA School Age Curriculum. Assists in oversight of all program activities, communicating with families and ensuring all equipment and supplies are available. Some of the exciting things you will do as a Group Leader include but are not limited to:Implements the program in accordance with the goals and policies of the YMCA, the School Age Curriculum (i.e. Creative curriculum)Effectively carries out appropriate lesson plans Establishes structure and routines for children setting boundaries and behavior guidelinesResponsible for the safety of the children at all times, including understanding and being able to implement emergency procedures as necessaryAttends parent/child events as requiredEffectively communicates with parents throughout the program yearMaintains an attractive and clean classroom at all timesQualifications:Must be at least 18 years of age. Must have high school diploma or GED. Obtain CDA within 18 months of employment. Current CPR and First Aid Certification. Documentation of physical examination and TB skin test. Clear the local jurisdiction requirements for criminal background and/or fingerprinting. Must meet the county/state licensing requirements. Must have the critical skill of being able to relate to parents, school staff and children and have a positive, creative attitude. Working Conditions:Must be able to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time. Must be physically active to play games and sports with the children. Must be able to pick-up at least 35 pounds.
