Join UsThe following position opening is available POSITION NAME: GO Club Afterschool Counselor LOCATION: Eugene Field Elementary School LENGTH OF POSITION: Mid August-Early June GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Under the direct supervision of the Director and Site Coordinator, GO Counselors will work with children in K-6th grade as well as parents, partners, and volunteers. Counselors are also responsible for the safety, development, growth, skill improvement, and achievement of the students in their group in a school setting. Counselors, as role models, actively participate with youth and implement programming. Must be energetic, love kids, and be ready to change a few lives. Staff is at all times representative of the philosophy, mission, and goals of the YMCA and must strive to work cooperatively with fellow staff. QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma or equivalentMust commit to regular attendance between the hours of 1:30-6:00 p.m. Mon-FriPreferred 1 year of experience working in customer servicePreferred 1 year experience tutoring or teachingMust be adaptable, creative, discerning, and hard-working.Must be a model of good values and moral behaviorMust have experience working and/or volunteering with children ages 5-12Spanish-English language skills preferred STATUS: Part-Time, Non-Exempt, HourlySCHEDULE: 20-30 hours per week STARTING SALARY: $12/hour tag: education
