YMCA of Greater St. Petersburg is Hiring a YReads Project Coordinator Near Saint Petersburg, FL

POSITION SUMMARY

The YReads! Project Coordinator is directly responsible for volunteer recruitment, retention and training. Organize and facilitate Family Engagement events, and provide support at sites when needed to ensure program expectations are meet.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Manages YREADS Program volunteer process to include sourcing, recruiting, screening, selection, onboarding, training and retention.
  • Train volunteers on facilitation of YREADS! Program, as well as literacy skills.
  • Manage volunteer recruitment training for YREADS! Program volunteers.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with community recruiting sources for the purposes of employee and volunteer recruitment.
  • Establish community and corporate relationships in order to promote the program.
  • Organize and present events and activities aimed at volunteer retention and appreciation.
  • Develop ideas for Family Nights and communication to encourage family support of the program objectives and to build strong families.
  • Facilitates Family Engagements for whole group events and individual sites school events.
  • Participates in school-related functions, encouraging family engagement opportunities.
  • Attends literacy events sponsored by funders and local civic organizations.
  • Support staff at site when needed to ensure program expectations are being maintained.
  • Participate, as directed, in corporate assignments, annual fundraising, special projects, etc.
  • Adheres to policies related to boundaries with youth.
  • Attends required abuse risk management training, reports suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations; follows mandated abuse reporting requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field required.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in an educational setting.
  • Ability to work as a team member with a diverse group of people
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, with excellent written & verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational, planning, communication and computer skills required.

Full-time, $23.00-$24.00 per hour. Excellent benefits including health insurance, 403(b) savings plan, retirement plan upon eligibility, free YMCA facility usage for employee and family; generous paid time off package and free before/after school child care. Pre-employment drug screen and clear background check required.
