YMCA of Greater St. Petersburg is Hiring a Community instructor Near Petersburg, FL

Under the supervision of the Community Health Kids Power Program Manager, this position will assist with session preparation, data collection and facilitation of the Kids Power and community health programs with quality implementation to meet the needs of the participants and their families, while representing a positive attitude and image of the YMCA.

Essential Functions

  • Instruct multiple classes in-person at multiple school locations to include prepping, set-up and break-down, daily attendance, curriculum facilitation, and any / all data tracking as needed.
  • Assist Community Health Kids Power manager with administrative duties at the YMCA at Lealman Exchange.
  • Work collaboratively with YMCA after school staff to ensure a positive, impactful experience.
  • Attend all staff trainings and meetings as assigned.
  • Provide overall leadership, supervision, and quality control for the program
  • Maintain headcounts and staff ratio at all times
  • Maintain a high level of professional courtesy with participants, parents / caregivers, facility personnel, and staff at all times
  • Create a nurturing environment that encourages healthy development

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Education or experience in health or wellness preferred
  • Minimum of one year experience in school, community, volunteer, or work experience in a role interacting and / or instructing youth preferred
  • Must be able to work cooperatively with children, parents and / or caregivers, peers; demonstrate character, integrity, adaptability, and patience in communicating with others
  • Basic computer experience to include data tracking
  • Ability to communicate in a positive and productive manner
  • CPR / First Aid certification required within 90 days

$17 / hr. Schedule : 10-12 hrs. / week, after school hours (2pm - 6pm), Must have reliable transportation to travel between 5 school sites within the Pinellas County area.

Clear criminal history and drug screening required.
