YMCA of Greater Houston is Hiring a General Office Clerk- Employment Services Near Houston, TX

Title: Employment Services General Office Clerk

Reports To: Employment Services Director

Pay: $20.13 per hour, full time, non-exempt position
Office Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:30am – 5:00pm. Occasional evenings and weekends.

DescriptionYMCA International Services is a unique branch of the Y of Greater Houston and seeks to meet the needs of Houston’s significant refugee and immigrant communities. We provide comprehensive programs that focus on building human assets and fostering self-sufficiency. As a clerk with the Employment Services department, you will support the work of the department by completing administrative tasks.

Duties /ResponsibilitiesThe General Office Clerk primary duties will include:

  • Organize and maintain files and records, ensuring they remain updated and are easily accessible.
  • Sort and distribute incoming mail. Prepare outgoing mail (envelopes, packages, etc.).
  • Support program staff with follow-ups and deliver friendly and knowledgeable communication with clients by phone, Google text or email.
  • Skilled use of office equipment such as photocopier, printers, etc.
  • Excellent computer skills for word processing, spreadsheet creation, etc.
  • Rapid and accurate typing skills to take minutes of meetings and write case notes.
  • Demonstrate a team mentality and willingness to assist in office management and organization procedures.
  • Process and prepare documents, such as public benefits or government forms, employment and other support service applications.
  • Report suspicious and inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.
  • Follow mandated abuse and incident reporting requirements.
  • Meet timelines and deadlines related to supporting systems and employee compliance. Example includes but are not limited to Kronos Workforce Ready for review and approval of time sheets.
  • Perform other job related duties as assigned i.e. participation in Food Distribution on a rotating basis.

Annual Outcomes and IndicatorsClerk will contribute to the program’s effectiveness by providing support to the case managers through high-quality administrative engagement as outlined above.

Requirements

  • Bilingual in English and Kinyarwanda and/or Rohingya PREFERRED
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
  • Familiarity with office procedures, devices and software
  • Very good organizational skills
  • Effective time management and multi-tasking skills
  • Capable team player & collaborator
  • High School Diploma, some college and/or relevant professional experience
