YMCA of Florida's First Coast is Hiring a Take Stock In Children Coordinator - Clay County Near Jacksonville, FL

Position Summary

The Clay County Take Stock in Children Coordinator will assist the Association Director of Teen Programs in program implementation, encompassing student selection, monitoring, reporting, scholarship administration, college readiness, and intervention when needed. Moreover, they will recruit, screen, train, and retain volunteer mentors, oversee volunteer mentor retention activities, and monitor mentor sessions. As the Coordinator, they will act as a communication link between volunteer mentors, students, and their parents or legal guardians as necessary.

Essential Functions:

* Assist the Association Director of Teen Programs (AD) in developing and implementing strategies to recruit volunteer mentors from the Clay County community, including businesses, schools, and other organizations.

* Assist AD in organizing and facilitating mentorship activities, workshops, and events to enhance the mentoring experience and foster meaningful connections.

* Assist AD in the student selection process to ensure the selection of a consistent mix of students according to Take Stock in Children student selection guidelines.

* Assist AD in identifying potential problems and intervene as necessary to ensure student success. This may include leveraging the services of affiliated organizations, leveraging school system resources, and/or direct interaction with students and/or parents.

* Represent the organization at community events, meetings, and conferences to raise awareness and advocate for the importance of mentoring and education.

* Contribute to knowledge-sharing efforts through participation in seminars, conference calls, surveys, etc.

* Responsible for providing direct services to students on college and career readiness by planning and executing college readiness workshops, supporting the development of study skills monitoring course and class selection, grades, attendance and performance, supporting the advancement of student's GPA's supporting preparations for taking the SAT and ACT, college applications and FAFSA's.

* Collect, document and report data on key performance indicators, including student data, in the areas of mentor recruitment, participation, application processing, screening, training, matching, and session frequency, as well as college and career readiness.

* Coordinate mentor-mentee matches based on compatibility, interests, and availability.

* Offer comprehensive mentor training that defines roles and responsibilities; clarifies Take Stock in Children mentoring guidelines and expectations; and provides tools and suggested activities.

* Generate reports on program outcomes, mentorship effectiveness, and student progress for internal evaluation and external stakeholders.

Qualifications:

* High School diploma required

* One to two years of related experience preferred, in outreach or after-school programs.

* Familiarity with the Clay County public school system.

* Ability to travel.

* Minimum age requirements may apply; for example, a minimum age of 21 (define).

* Typical requirements within 30 days of hire include completion of CPR; First Aid; AED.

* Fulfillment of state-specific hiring standards and completion of YMCA program-specific certifications.

* Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
