Position: Remedial Teacher/Tutor (2024-2025 School Year)

Location: Parma, OH

Venue: Private High School

Position Type: Full-Time and Part-Time

Who we are

In order to truly help a child, we need to understand and support not only that child but the individuals and environments that the child interacts with each and every day. Wraparound Experts, LLC will help children succeed mentally, emotionally, and academically by providing resources to the children themselves and training and support to the environments and people that interact with them daily.

Wraparound Experts provides a variety of services to meet the needs of children and families in schools and homes. This includes behavioral, mental health, and diversity training for children, teachers, and families as well as experts within the school environment. We establish coordination that utilizes training and therapies to enhance the overall wellness of not only the child individually, but the systems in which the child operates.

Position Overview

The Remedial Teacher/Tutor is responsible for planning and delivering lessons that go beyond the traditional curriculum. They may focus on a particular subject area or they may create their own curriculum based on student interests and needs. Remedial Teachers/Tutors often work with students who have special needs, who demonstrate above average academic skills, or who require additional attention outside of the regular classroom instruction.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, early childhood education, or a related field, required
  • Valid Ohio Department of Education License, required
  • Valid driver’s license, required
  • FBI and BCI background check (can be completed upon hire), required
  • Successful experience working with children in an academic environment
  • Knowledgeable in state and federal special education law
  • Collaborative, constructive team building skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with students, parents, and other staff members
  • Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality and use sound judgment in all aspects of the job

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparing lesson plans and activities in accordance with school curriculum requirements and academic standards.
  • Teaching students basic academic skills such as reading, spelling, writing, and math.
  • Creating stimulating learning environments through the use of hands-on activities, manipulatives, technology, and other tools.
  • Communicating with parents about their child’s progress throughout the school year, including attendance, grades, and discipline issues.
  • Helping students improve their social skills by teaching them how to get along with others, resolve conflicts nonviolently, and respect authority figures.
  • Observing students’ during class times to identify potential learning needs or behavioral concerns that may require additional assistance from teachers and/or parents, and communicating those observations to parents and any other teachers the student works with.
