WOW Logistics Tukwila, WA DC is now hiring for an Assistant General Manager!

The Assistant General Manager of the Tukwila Distribution Center will oversee two separate business units for a contract operations facility. You will ensure compliance with specified contract metrics as related to inventory accuracy, on time shipments, damage, and quality. The Assistant General Manager will lead the operations team consisting of 4 direct reports and up to 50 indirect reports. As the AGM, you will be involved in strategic planning, succession planning, identifying, and implementing process improvement, improving customer service, reducing costs, and driving distribution center excellence.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Establishes strategic direction for all distribution center activities
  • Develops and implements standard operational procedures (SOP’s) for and monitors activities, such as verification of incoming and outgoing shipments, handling, and disposition of materials, and keeping the warehouse inventory current
  • Handle all customer inquiries, complaints and notifications in a timely manner
  • Improve and maintain all customer KPI’s (Key Performance Indicators) by providing leadership, operational performance, and a motivated and positive workforce
  • Establish and meet site objectives in the areas of financial performance, safety, quality, and customer service in compliance with all applicable internal and external policies.
  • Facilitate and coach the warehouse leadership team on strategic action plans, continuous improvement initiatives, and employee feedback responses
  • Provide hands on mentoring and training to the leadership team on all shifts
  • Train and coach leadership team on how to maintain and improve the culture and morale of the warehouse
  • Hire, train, develop, and appraise staff effectively, take corrective action as necessary on a timely basis and in accordance with company policy. Consult with Human Resources as appropriate.
  • Take an active leadership role in managing turnover
  • Ensure that company policies are communicated, administered, and enforced
  • Ensure maintenance and accuracy of data in relevant system (inventory, labor, customer service, etc.)
  • Ensure that employees have proper access to the necessary tools to perform their assigned job duties
  • Responsible for the P&L of the warehouse
  • Provide a safe, secure, clean, and fair work environment for all employees

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years supply chain management experience in distribution/3PL warehousing
  • College Degree preferred in Business Management, Logistics, Supply Chain, Operations, or relevant experience
  • 4 years leadership experience in roles of increasing responsibility with prior P&L responsibility
  • Working knowledge of logistics processes and methods to include flow, cost efficiencies, MHE equipment, warehouse management systems (WMS), safety and quality. Experience in a food grade facility is a plus.
  • A hands-on management approach that encourages change and creative problem-solving
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced, high-intensity environment, with varying temperatures (ambient & cooler storage space)
  • Flexibility and willingness to change direction and focus as business needs dictate
  • Ability to interact effectively at multiple levels in support of customer relationships
  • Ability to meet strict time frames in environments with zero tolerance for failure
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills and high integrity
  • Strong relationship-building skills
  • Ability to groom and grow others
  • Self-confidence

Hours: Monday - Friday Mid Shift, with ability to work additional hours and or days and holidays as needed, particularly during high volume periods, to ensure that departmental objectives are accomplished.
