Wounded Warrior Homes is Hiring an Operations Manager Near San Marcos, CA

Overview

Wounded Warrior Homes is looking for an Operations Manager to join our team who has a passion for our veteran community and Wounded Warrior Homes mission, which is to provide transitional housing and support services to recently separated veterans with military related injuries and severe financial hardship. About the role

The Operations Manager reports to the Executive Director and is responsible for daily operations of the organization as well as leading and managing staff in the implementation of services and programs.

Responsibilities

  • The Operations Manager serves as the internal leader of the organization. Those responsibilities include:
  • Assisting the Executive Director with the annual operations plan and budget processes
  • Occasional representation of the organization with the Board of Directors
  • Leading the performance management process that measures and evaluates individual team member progress against goals for the organization
  • Providing for all staff a strong day-to-day leadership presence and support an open-door policy among all staff
  • Contributing to the development of Wounded Warrior Homes strategic goals and objectives as well as the overall management of the organization
  • Assume limited responsibility of Executive Director when ED in unavailable
  • Advising the Executive Director on financial planning, budgeting, cash flow, investment priorities, and policy matters
  • Maintaining continuous lines of communication, keeping the Executive Director informed of all critical issues
  • Acting as an ambassador for Wounded Warrior Homes by representing and communicating the organization’s branded message, internally and externally
  • Staff
  • Mentor and develop staff using a supportive and collaborative approach
  • Process new staff hires
  • Maintain schedules
  • Technology
  • Maintain/troubleshoot computers, LAN, data backup, telecommunications, printer, etc.
  • Analyze the current technology infrastructure and scope out the next level of information technology that support the growth of specific programs and the organization overall
  • Assist staff with technology issues
  • Program Management
  • Support and assist Program Manager and Case Manager in development and management of program goals and procedures
  • Provide management oversight of constituent programs, ensure that all program activities operate consistently and ethically within the mission and values of Wounded Warrior Homes
  • Assist program manager, housing team and outside contracting companies help facilitate and track repairs to homes
  • Participate in occasional night and weekend events

Candidate requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Operations Management or related field; or commensurate experience
  • Three to five years of proven work experience as Operations Manager or similar role
  • Demonstrates excellent leadership qualities, including the ability to motivate and earn the respect of other staff
  • Outstanding organizational skills, time management, think proactively and prioritize work
  • Must be able to clearly and effectively communicate instructions to other team members
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of computers, and should be able to navigate new software programs as needed
  • Collaborates well with a team
  • Displays excellent communication and public speaking skills
  • Ability to set long-term goals and develop plans to meet them
  • Exhibits qualities of a creative thinker, necessary for planning the future development of the program
  • Has ability to maintain calm demeanor and think fast in the face of a crisis or dispute
  • Must have the energy and stamina required to supervise a number of activities, which requires ongoing movement, some light travel, and lifting of some supplies
  • Prior military experience or military family member a plus

Compensation

  • Full-time; exempt $66,560
  • 20 paid holidays
