Employee Benefits Placement and Financial Analyst

Miami, Florida

The Employee Benefits Placement and Financial Analyst will lead placement and financial analytics for our Florida market employee benefits clients, building strong carrier relations and sharing expertise and solutions with internal teams and clients to build winning benefit programs. This individual will provide renewal, placement, and financial analysis deliverables for current and prospective mid and large clients with moderately complex benefit programs, including self-funded clients. 

The selected candidate will leverage their advanced marketing and placement knowledge to lead and manage new and renewal business and apply their underwriting, plan design, and cost management expertise to bring client solutions. The role responsibilities include creating RFP’s, conducting contract review, negotiating rates, and preparing renewal client deliverables and recommendations. 

Additional responsibilities include conducting claims utilization analysis, preparing renewal projections, premium rate analysis and plan modeling in conjunction with our on-staff Actuary as necessary. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced and highly collaborative team environment. 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Manages employee benefits renewal/marketing process for fully insured and self-funded clients including RFP process development, response review including proposal data analysis and carrier contract reviews.
  • Reviews prospect and client information including census and historical data necessary for bid process and suggests renewal activities based on findings from experience data.
  • Independently analyses financial and utilization data, identifying and articulating trends and relation of experience to renewal rating. 
  • Serves as primary contact with insurance carriers during renewal and placement process, advising on client benefit strategy, budget and goals, addressing carrier questions throughout the RFP process.
  • Negotiates rates, terms and conditions and benefit features with current and prospective vendors.
  • Prepares renewal and marketing reports, presentations, and correspondence, including value-added analysis and executive summaries with observations and recommendations. 
  • Prepares fully insured and self-funded financial dashboards and monthly reports. 
  • Creates visual data summaries and assists/leads in presenting insights to clients on financial dashboards, projections, and other financial analysis.
  • Provides timely, accurate work consistently and independently and within established workflows and scope of services for new business and renewals ensuring internal and external deadlines are met.
  • Participates in peer review process as a participant and a reviewer. Guide and train more junior colleagues as necessary.
  • Attends onsite and offsite client meetings as necessary.

Qualifications

  • Advanced knowledge of EB respective markets and group health and benefits products and trends, compliance, underwriting, funding concepts and value-added programs to find the best solutions to meet client needs.
  • Intermediate to advanced technical skills to lead renewal projections, pricing strategies, contribution modeling, self-funded feasibility studies, analysis of financial arrangements and renewal/marketing of self-funded programs (TPA, PBM and Stop Loss).
  • Strong ability to identify underlying cost drivers and the implications for the client’s health plans, evaluating, and recommending potential changes to mitigate trend or meet other business objectives, including modeling plan design alternatives.
  • Proficient at building and presenting results of complex, fully insured and self-funded financial reports.
  • Proficient project management skills in working with clients, colleagues, and engaging carriers, vendors and SMEs to deliver measurable results.
  • Strong relationship building skills with ability to maintain effective relationships with peers, clients, and carriers.
  • Strong communicator, with ability to tailor written and presentation styles to demonstrate confidence and convey messages and ideas to varied audiences to build understanding and commitment based on recommendations.
  • 7 years of Employee Benefits Brokerage placement and financial analysis experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in a business-related program or equivalent education and/or experience in the insurance industry.
  • Strong financial acumen, with the ability to develop and work with mathematical formulas.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to work independently, be resourceful and problem solve with strong analytical and critical thinking skills and high sense of urgency.
  • Advanced skills in Excel, PowerPoint and analytics tools. 
  • Life/Health insurance license or the ability to obtain immediately required.
