We are seeking a Content Creator who is focused on the Sciences to join our team.

In this role, you will interact with educators in schools and libraries as well as business leaders and organizations that share our vision.

We are looking for a writer/editor with a strong background in the sciences. This person will research and write text primarily relating to science and technology for use in new and existing products. They will need to produce highly polished, engaging, and reliable content appropriate in style for various print projects aimed at learners in Grades K-10. Content needs will vary from reference-type, curriculum-aligned articles to high-interest, consumer-friendly children’s books.

The successful candidate will also oversee the growth, development, and maintenance of educational content in an assigned science and technology subject area for World Book’s digital learning suite. They will work with internal resources and external contributors to develop articles, interactive activities, instructional materials, and other supporting educational content. They will maintain the currency of the assigned subject area across the platform and consistency in that area among all relevant products.

A Successful Candidate Will Have the Following:

• Bachelor’s degree in one of the sciences.
• One to three years experience in writing, publishing, or teaching in the field of science.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; interpersonal skills.
• Familiarity with a standard style guide, such as the Chicago Manual of Style.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office software; experience using Adobe InDesign a plus.

• Writes, edits, and fact-checks text content to strict deadlines.
• Keeps abreast of developments in assigned science and technology subject areas, as well as for other assigned articles, and maintains the accuracy, comprehensiveness, and relevance of content.
• Suggests and develops ideas for new content and content expansion, leveraging web analytics, sales performance, and other data.
• Identifies and works with contributors to write or review content.
• Works with the Graphics & Design team in formulating ideas for illustrating content and creating interactive media.
• Helps create marketing materials relating to new features, and products.
