POSITION SUMMARY

The Research and Program Manager is responsible for administrative support, research project management, and community engagement. A main focus of this role is to enable progress on the robust Menus of Change University Research Collaborative (MCURC) research agenda. This position will also support similar functions within the CIA Healthy Kids Collaborative (HKC).

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

MCURC Research Management:

  • Set clear expectations of the intended outcomes, timelines and deliverables of each project through project management.
  • Create and manage a research program timeline and/or Gantt chart to advance the development of work on simultaneous projects at a pace that produces tangible progress.
  • Coordinate tasks and leadership roles for specific projects to ensure that projects and project sub-components move forward in line with agreed upon timelines.
  • Update documents summarizing each research project.
  • Develop content, layouts, figures/tables, and data files.
  • Develop presentation decks, including outlines/key messages as well as slides.
  • Analyze data and data validation; reference sections.
  • Maintain records of journal submission and other written research materials.
  • Support the program planning of the MCURC Annual All-Member Meeting, including collaborating on the planning and execution of the Research Showcase and interactive ideation sessions to generate new research ideas.

MCURC Community Management:

  • Manage onboarding and membership updates, including fielding membership inquiries, maintaining member rosters, and communicating key changes in membership and onboarding with the Program Director.
  • Maintain the member portal, including all relevant overview documents, annual meeting notes, and photos, protocols, guideline materials, etc.
  • Update external website content as needed, such as posting new resources.
  • Coordinate all note-taking for the MCURC annual meeting, including managing student or other guest note-takers for all breakout sessions.
  • Support note-taking and follow-up note organization for monthly RWG calls, with input from the Program Director.
  • Coordinate call times/calendar invites/RWG member rosters.
  • Support communication to MCURC stakeholders about multi-site research projects.

HKC and HMC Community Management and Project Coordination:

  • Support the Healthy Kids Collaborative (HKC) and Healthy Menus Research & Development Collaborative (HMC) through managing and supporting membership administration and community engagement, including:
    • Update roster, member recruitment, and member onboarding/offboarding.
    • Group call scheduling and notetaking.
    • Maintain annual meeting support/notes.
  • Support the HKC and HMC through research and evaluation coordination, which may include:
    • Annual member evaluation coordination and analyzing the data to promote Strategic Initiatives Group (SIG) programs publicly and to allow for process/program improvement and funding (in conjunction with marketing and operations).
    • Research project management where needed.
  • Any and all other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in nutrition, environmental science, public health, communications, or similar field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience:

  • Minimum of one (1) year of work experience with companies or organizations advancing healthy and sustainable food through education, research, culinary innovation, and/or community engagement.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree in food systems, nutrition, sustainability, or health communications-related field.
  • Culinary degree or equivalent culinary, food industry, and/or foodservice operations experience.
  • Passion for food and beverage and for mission-based non-profit work.
  • Experience with Cvent, Squarespace, or other database/registration management systems and/or website development platforms is a plus.

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Excellent written, verbal communication, and presentation skills required. Must have demonstrated ability in organizational, time management, problem solving and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong computer experience, and MS Office suite products, i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Strong analytical and conceptual skills.
  • Must display a high level of energy and self-motivation.
  • Collegial and positive in outlook and approach.

  • Ability to handle confidential issues with a high level of discretion.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a strong commitment to service.
  • Detail oriented and thorough.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Must be available to work nights and weekends as required by business needs.
  • Regular work requires the use of a computer, sometimes in excess of eight (8) hours per day.
