Job Summary:

Preparation of detailed bids, estimates, and budgets for electrical disciplines on projects. The projects include refineries, chemical plants, water and wastewater treatment plants, food processing plants, manufacturing, K-12 education, universities, commercial buildings, retail and multiuse residential.

Duties/Responsibilities:

· Review construction documents and understand scope of work to bid.

· Submit RFI’s for clarification during the bid process.

· Perform a material and labor estimate identifying potential risks and opportunities.

· Coordinate and prepare the estimate ensuring company goals and Lean Construction Principles are considered.

· Establish project specific strategies and goals to maximize competitiveness.

· Minimize liability and LD’s by including reductions/exclusions in the estimate.

· Evaluate value engineering opportunities.

· Prepare change order pricing and cost codes for project tracking.

· Collaborate and lead a turnover meeting with Operations team.

· Prepare cost summary capturing material, labor, equipment, subcontractor and overhead costs incurred in the installation of items so that project costs can be actualized for continual improvement.

· Visit construction sites and observe methods of construction to gain additional insight that will assist in accurately estimating jobs.

· Inform immediate supervisor of any observed inaccuracies or omissions in quoted items or computer database.

· Develop and maintain resource information on products, vendors, subcontractors, etc.

· Review all estimates with Group Leader or Project Manager to ensure accuracy and completeness, prior to formal quotation.

· Utilize standard formats for completing the estimates.

· Ensure all working documents and data are maintained to backup estimate figures.

Required Skills/Abilities:

· Experience with Auto bid Mechanical or other computerized estimating software.

· Advanced technical writing ability, verbal, and interpersonal skills.

· Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office.

· Responds promptly to customer needs and maintains confidentiality.

· Ability to work independently and prioritize work tasks.

· Adapts to changes in the work environment, manages competing demands and is able to deal with frequent changes, delays or unexpected events.

· Maintains a high level of professionalism, patience, and efficiency to minimize internal customer dissatisfaction and increase efficiency.

· Negotiation skills and training.

· Ability to communicate with all levels of the company.

Education and Experience:

· Preferred Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Construction Management or a Technical Degree with 3 years of experience in elecctrial construction.

· Experience as construction estimator.

· Minimum of 5 years of experience in the construction trade.

Physical Requirements

· Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer in a standard office environment

· Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

· Standard work hours: 7:00-3:30pm, Monday-Friday

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $76,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
