Wisconsin Department of Health Services is Hiring a Training Director - Wisconsin Resource Center Near Winnebago, IL

Introduction

The Department of Health Services (DHS) Wisconsin Resource Center (WRC) is recruiting to fill a Training Director vacancy.

This position will generally work Monday through Friday, 7:45 am to 4:30 pm, though some night hours may be necessary to oversee or facilitate training scheduled during evening hours.

WRC is a secure treatment facility that specializes in treating individuals with severe mental health conditions from the Wisconsin Department of Corrections. This facility is located on Lake Winnebago with beautiful walking paths by the lake for employees to use during break periods. WRC is part of the Division of Care and Treatment Services (DCTS). Position Summary

As the Training Director, you will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Planning, developing, facilitating, and ensuring the provision of all WRC training requirements for all disciplines.
  • Creating and maintaining all training program and attendance records.
  • Leading and overseeing the Online Learning Management System and online training (e.g., Cornerstone).
  • Preparing, reviewing, and archiving the curriculum, content, lesson plans and presentation materials
  • equipping, scheduling, and overseeing the training spaces
  • communicating with the facility staff regarding training obligations and opportunities
  • seeking, training, evaluating, and addressing facilitators
  • maintaining all facility and employee training records.

Training programs you will oversee include Psychiatric Care Technician Advanced, and DHS Officer Pre-Service; New Employee Training, Principles of Subject Control; Annual Update Training; Train the Trainers and more. You will also be responsible for the supervision of assigned staff in the Training Department. You will partner with the Nursing Supervisor to ensure supervisory collaboration within the training environment and appropriate incorporation of National Commission on Correctional Health Care (NCCHC) accreditation requirements. This position also connects with and provides connection to the DHS Training Team.

Salary Information

The starting pay is between $40.00 and $43.46 per hour (approximately between $83,200 and $90,300 per year), depending on qualifications, plus excellent benefits. A 12-month probationary period is required.

Pay for current or former state employees is set based upon the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction. This position is classified as a Staff Development Program Supervisor and is in pay schedule and range 81/03.

Job Details

All appointees will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by the facility or medical personnel directed by the facility within 30 days of hire.

All applicants will be required to allow the DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any convictions may be related to the job being filled.

DHS does not sponsor work visas for this position, thus, in compliance with federal law, selected candidates will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire.

This position has physical requirements which may include but are not limited to:

  • Ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, stoop, twist, and balance to teach staff various procedures and crisis management techniques.
  • Ability to speak, hear, and see class participants to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to perform complex and fine motor skills to utilize computer and audiovisual equipment.
  • Ability to walk and transport audiovisual equipment on institution grounds by carrying up to 25 pounds or pushing and pulling carts.
  • Ability to remember specific details and respond appropriately to facilitate group discussions.
  • Ability to see and hear within a normal range, with or without correction, in order to be able to react in the case of emergency.

Qualifications

Minimally qualified applicants will have all of the following:

  • Experience working in a leadership or supervisory role (e.g., lead worker, committee leader, leader for trainings or programs, leading projects, etc.)
  • Experience developing adult education curriculum.
  • Experience using technology (e.g., audio-visual equipment, Microsoft Suite, Cornerstone, etc.) for report and document production and presentations.
  • Experience working with a diverse, multicultural population, and creating an inviting and respectful work environment.

Well-qualified applicants will also have one or more of the following:

  • Experience coordinating a company-wide project, program, or training initiative.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field (e.g., Education, Business, Linguistics, Criminal Justice, Mental Health, etc.).
  • Experience or training using continuous quality improvement techniques and evidence-based criteria.
  • Experience working in a secured environment.
