Wisconsin Assisted Living Association is Hiring a Workforce Development Director Near Madison, WI

Title: Workforce Development Director

Reports to: President & Chief Executive Officer

Summary

The WALA Workforce Development Director is an integral member of a small, dynamic team providing services to a diverse group of assisted living providers and partners. This is a full-time, exempt position, reporting to the President & Chief Executive Officer. This position is based at WALA’s Madison office, but statewide travel is required. This position requires the ability to plan and execute strategically for the purpose of leveraging resources, budget, and partnerships across the state.

The Workforce Development Director is responsible for the following major functional areas/projects: 1) oversee the development, expansion and promotion of career pathways for our Assisted Living members workforce 2) ensure the development of a diverse talent pipeline for Assisted Living members 3) create functioning long-term partnerships with local school systems, career centers, and local/state/community agencies to assist with finding qualified staff for our members 4) find state, federal, and private grant opportunities and lead the submission of grant applications.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and oversee the expansion of workforce training, recruitment, and retention programs to provide opportunities to WALA members.
  • Drive and manage the development of growing a talent pipeline of qualified and diverse talent to meet the needs of our growing assisted living population.
  • Provide leadership, direction, and assistance to WALA’s assisted living members to determine training needs of staff through planning, promoting, and presenting educational programs based on specific needs.
  • Provides services associated with ongoing professional development of staff at the member facility.
  • Ensures assisted living facilities follow regulatory requirements relating to staff credentialing and education.
  • Lead and/or assists the development of student level training or education credentials for the purpose of student recruitment into assisted living career opportunities.
  • Partners with local high schools and regional colleges, technical colleges, career centers, etc. to identify and provide assisted living members with highly qualified candidates to staff their location.
  • Build and maintain positive long-term relationships with community agencies, colleges, school systems, state/local agencies, and economic development entities.
  • Research, investigate, and ensure submission of applications for grant opportunities, lead writing grant applications and responding in a timely manner to all secured grants for the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Three to five years’ experience in direct Workforce Development management, initiatives, projects, programs, or strategies
  • Knowledge and use of office equipment. Must be computer literate and have knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Positive, upbeat, person-focused approach to customer service. Be a positive part of the team.
  • Must be able to multi-task and handle many projects, each with great detail simultaneously, while maintaining good humor with professional public interaction.
  • Must be self-directed and can work independently.
  • Ability to plan, organize and prioritize work and handle multiple shifting priorities and deadlines. Creative problem solving is encouraged.
  • High-level communication and interpersonal skills, by phone, in writing and in person, with the public, the WALA Board of Directors, volunteers and other staff.
  • Have an ability to work with a wide variety of board members, volunteers, and the public.
  • Have a professional demeanor in dress, appearance, manners and attitude.
  • Have an ability to handle confidential information.
