Program Director
Full Time /Exempt

Wingspan Life Resources has an opening for Program Director.
The Program Director is responsible for the development, supervision and direction of a team of House Coordinators (HCs) at multiple group-home locations, providing them with vision toward excellence in service, guidance in employee development and ongoing and effective oversight. Program Directors participate in the development, implementation, and supervision of all services for people with developmental disabilities. The Program Director is responsible to assure that services provide the safe and respectful treatment of clients living at Wingspan Life Resources while promoting their active participation in all aspects of life through personal choice, individual empowerment, and the enhancement of independent living skills.
Founded in 1973, Wingspan Life Resources is a growing and dynamic nonprofit organization that provides services to people with developmental and other disabilities in residential homes, a Crisis Respite Center, and In-Home programs throughout the Twin Cities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership:
  • Cultivates existing relationships with vendors with the goal of ensuring sufficient space and resources, and access to services
  • Develops and implements strategies that will maximize synergies among program areas.
Supervision:
  • Oversees the hiring of HCs and provides orientation to the agency, rules and standards, site and position
  • Implements a professional development program to address employee experience and skill gaps
  • Facilitates the personal growth and accountability of House Coordinators through regular meetings, coaching and communication
  • Facilitates team meetings that provide HCs with information, training and connection
  • Instills a sense of accountability among employees by modeling tight oversight of individual and organization performance standards
  • Provides ongoing training for individual HCs and teams in the areas of supervision, client self-determination, program development and requirements, medical, environment and any other appropriate areas
  • Ensures the hiring, orientation and training of an effective and skilled direct care work force
  • Fully participates in the planning and implementation of monthly HC training meetings and monthly in-service trainings
  • Provides Executive Director with regular feedback on performance issues and program concerns
  • Conducts regular evaluations of HC’s performance
  • Use of management tools and processes, celebrate individual and team accomplishments
Quality Assurance:
Visits each site at least monthly to:
  • Review program documentation
  • Observe HC and direct care professional’s interactions with clients and give constructive feedback
  • Evaluate the client’s living environment for cleanliness, comfort, noise, safety, and adequate and appropriate furnishings
  • Participates in an on-going evaluation of service to clients contributing ideas and implementing plans for continuous improvement
  • Ensures the expansion and adaptation of services according to the changing needs of the client
  • Actively participates in the process of admitting new clients to available openings.
Compliance:
  • Regularly reviews documentation of service documenting service to our clients
  • With the direction of the Executive Director, conducts investigations when issues arise and completes documentation of reports to maintain the safety of our clients
  • Maintains current knowledge of applicable rules and statutes providing information and training to the HC team
  • Assure compliance of all applicable rules and statutes
  • Participates in licensing reviews.
Team/Administrative:
  • Prepares for, and actively participate in weekly Management Team meetings
  • Attends and actively participates in other trainings, meetings and special events
  • Communicates effectively and maintains positive working relationships with all departments
  • Maintains effective communication and actively support members of the Management Team
  • Supports and works toward the agency goals and mission
  • Acts as a liaison with county and state representatives and families, assuring positive working relationships.
Financial Responsibilities:
  • Evaluates staffing expenses at each site, recommending cost effective means of meeting client’s needs
  • Regularly reviews site expenditures and make recommendations as needed
  • Assures that required documents and reports are submitted according to policy and within timelines
  • Reviews and authorizes employee timesheets, expense and mileage reports, and credit card reports
  • Assures the HC is trained in managing client funds, is completing all required documentation of fund management and is prepared for quarterly audits.
REQUIREMENTS OF JOB
Educational/Experience:
  • Bachelors Degree in the Human Service field or four (4) years or more related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • A minimum of (3) years experience in a supervisory capacity, preferably in a setting providing services to clients with developmental disabilities and/or related conditions
  • A minimum of two (2) years program management experience
  • A valid Minnesota Drivers’ License
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with exceptional attention to details
  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a commitment to and passion for Wingspan’s mission.
Computer Skills:
Ability to comfortably utilize word and excel programs and train others in the use of these programs.
Language Skills:
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from case managers, clients, family, licensors and the general public.
Mathematical Skills:
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent, and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Physical Requirements:
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
COMPENSATION
This is an exempt position with an annual salary range of $58,000 - $62,000.
