Job Description
Title: Learning Support Specialist - Full Time; East Campus
Position Description: This is a full-time position (with possibility of part-time if that is of interest to candidate) as a Learning Support Specialist with responsibility for working with Grades K-6 students with varying challenges in accessing the curriculum. This is a highly collaborative position, requiring both expertise and flexibility. The Learning Support Specialist is responsible for the coordination of support and accommodations for students and teachers. As a member of the Brawerman support team, the Learning Support Specialist will develop and curate resources to aid teachers in research-based teaching practices, provide on-going support and professional development for teachers, coordinate and support official accommodation plans for students, provide small group and individual instruction for students recommended for support, and provide parents with relevant resources.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years experience providing support to students in Grades K-6. Additionally, the Learning Support Specialist will possess observable skills and experience in evaluating and aiding students with various learning needs. This role will work collaboratively with students, educators, and families. To be successful, the Learning Support Specialist must be highly organized, possess excellent interpersonal skills, and demonstrate the ability to provide effective, specialized instruction. The candidate must promote an inclusive and equitable community by having a nurturing, supportive, and clear tone with students.
About Brawerman: Brawerman Elementary School is a Reform Jewish day school with two campuses. The original West campus was founded in 1999 in a modern facility located in West Los Angeles. The East campus opened in fall 2011 in the heart of L.A.’s Koreatown, in the historic Wilshire Boulevard Temple. We are a tight-knit community with a high level of collaboration among the faculty and an active parent body.
