Willamette Valley Toxicology is Hiring a Technical Manager Near Corvallis, OR

Located in the heart of the Willamette Valley, Pree Laboratory is a ORELAP accredited high complexity environmental laboratory specializing in testing of cannabis products. Pree Laboratory prides itself in providing our partners with the highest quality technical support, accurate and timely reporting, and customer service in a prompt and professional manner.

Training schedule; Monday-Friday 9am-5pm

We are seeking a Technical Manager to become an integral part of our team! Our ideal candidate will have experience with reviewing data produced in our laboratory (HPLC, LCMS, & GCMS) to generate reports for clients in order to increase company revenue and efficiency.

Responsibilities:

  • Produce high quality accessioning skills into our LIMS system
  • Assess internal data through quantitative analysis
  • Communicate findings to company through standard reports
  • Promote best practices in data analysis and reporting
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams
  • Communicate with co-workers on sample intake
  • Perform sample intake from walk-in customers and sales staff, ensure all forms are correctly filled out, enter samples into Confident Cannabis and LIMS
  • Communicate with sales team for orders that may be outside the requested turnaround time, provide updates as needed and communicate with admin/general manager for any requests from customers on order status
  • Support sales team with daily intake and verification of samples and communication on order status
  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor with customers
  • Demonstrate knowledge of all sampling protocols, state cannabis testing regulations in order to effectively answer customer questions and field questions from sales team/samplers about regulations and sampling
  • Delegate, track and manage numerous parallel activities with minimal supervision
  • Support procedural and policy changes to improve operational efficiency
  • Support coordination of schedules, appointments and event bookings

Sample Intake:

  • Receive samples and confirm appropriate receipt conditions
  • Enter the samples into the LIMS
  • Complete all necessary intake documentation

Sample Preparation for Analysis:

The technician prepares samples in accordance with the associated method SOPs. The following are tasks necessary for sample preparation:

  • Homogenizations
  • Weighing
  • Extractions
  • Dilutions

Daily Opening Procedures:

  • Temperature logs for refrigerators, freezers, and incubators (as applicable)
  • Stocking consumables
  • Cleaning labware
  • General tidiness throughout the lab space
  • For more advanced technicians, the following may be included in their daily tasks:
  • Sample Analysis using HPLC, GC, GC/MS, etc.
  • Sample Reporting
  • Manage inventory
  • Other laboratory quality management tasks

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Report analysis of cannabis and hemp in compliance with the Oregon Health Authority, OLCC, ODA, and Orelap guidelines.
  • Follow all PREE standard operating procedures (SOP'S) and TNI Standards.
  • Communicate with co-workers both in the field and within the laboratory.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, well organized, and efficient work environment.
  • Continuous Learning-Stay current with SOPs and any changes to the rules/regulations of the listed governing agencies.
  • Keep detailed records and documentation while following our sample plan worksheet and chain of custody protocols.

  • Must be 21 or older.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in chemical, environmental, biological sciences, physical sciences or engineering, microbiology, biology, chemistry, environmental sciences, physical sciences or engineering with a minimum of sixteen (16) college semester credit hours in general microbiology and biology
  • At least two (2) years of experience in the environmental analysis of representative inorganic and organic analytes for which the laboratory seeks or maintains accreditation.
  • High level knowledge of Excel and Google Sheets
  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask

Optional Attributes:

  • Knowledge of METRC rules and operations
  • Awareness of OLCC rules and operations
  • Experience with standard Lab Procedures and Practices
  • Knowledge of Marijuana Products and Standards
  • Ability to work independently or with a team
  • Self-starter with a can-do attitude
  • Great communication skills

Successful applicants will be responsible for reporting of various hemp and cannabis products in compliance with regulatory requirements and applicable internal protocols and SOPs.

This job requires attention to detail, customer service skills, and excellent communication know-how.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

This job operates in a professional Office / Laboratory environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, electronic notepads and various software programs. Requires periods of sitting and working at a computer screen.

This job may include some extended work hours or weekend work during harvest and other busy seasons. Requires work in a laboratory environment with some minimal exposure to noxious fumes.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Sufficient motor function to move freely and safely from one location to another in the office; dexterity with small equipment including keyboards or other data input tools in a manner consistent with office duties

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
