WFYI Indianapolis is Hiring a Development & Marketing Intern Near Indianapolis, IN

WFYI’s Development & Marketing department is responsible for the design and execution of fundraising and marketing strategies to ensure the station’s financial sustainability through retention and growth of its donors, corporate and philanthropic partners, and audience. The Development & Marketing intern contributes to the fundraising strategy execution through research, cultivation, solicitations and activation of WFYI’s partners. This intern will learn how to help WFYI effectively leverage data to engage WFYI major and mid-level donors ensuring maximum monthly and annual revenue. The intern will assist with timely research and prospecting reporting and play an active role in fundraising solicitations. Additionally, the intern will gain experience working within a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system to support overall development and marketing efforts.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To be successful in this role, an individual will learn to accurately, satisfactorily, and timely perform the functions listed below.
  • Creative Skills
    • Learn how to populate and submit cultivation and solicitation assets for team review.
    • Develop written and digital cultivation skills with copy writing and distribution.
    • Shadow and learn about fundraising solicitations.
  • Strategy
    • Learn how to work on lead generation activities to meet overall station goals.
    • Get experience with diverse revenue and marketing strategies.
    • Have the chance to gain insights into the unique landscape of public media fundraising.
OTHER ACTIVITIES
  • Attend WFYI marketing and communications team meetings.
  • Learn about non-profit fundraising and multi-platform audience growth.
  • Participate fully in WFYI’s internship program activities.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
To perform this job successfully, an individual must have the following education and/or experience
  • Required
    • Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university.
    • Experience, through coursework or external training, with non-profits, fundraising and/or marketing strategies.
    • Strongly self-motivated with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Preferred
    • Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently.
    • A valid US driver’s license and ability to drive to locations within Indianapolis or access to alternate transportation.
