Central Indiana Corporate Partnership is Hiring an Ascend - Client Development Intern (Summer 2024) Near Indianapolis, IN

Ascend Indiana (Ascend) is a fast-growing nonprofit on a mission to address Indiana’s workforce misalignment. Ascend’s vision is for Indiana to be a place of economic opportunity for all. An initiative of Central Indiana Corporate Partnership (CICP), Ascend collaborates with corporate, education, philanthropic, and community partners, and is well-positioned to play a leadership role in addressing Indiana’s workforce challenges.
The Client Development Intern will play a key role in identifying and enabling outreach to prospective employers to entice them to join the Ascend Network (Network), a talent matching platform designed to connect Indiana job seekers with good and promising jobs and work-based learning opportunities. The Client Development Intern will work closely with the Client Success Manager to achieve Ascend’s goal of adding new employer partners to the Network and will support on additional high priority projects and research as assigned by the Client Success Manager or Senior Manager of Employer Partnerships.

Excited to identify a high volume of prospective employer partners, willing to be creative and persistent to find contact information and inform outreach strategies, and systematically oriented to efficiently execute high priority projects.
Motivated by ambiguity and inspired to help develop and enhance outreach and onboarding processes to achieve ambitious goals.
In this role, you will…
  • Support the Senior Manager of Employer Partnerships and the Client Success Manager in the prospecting of potential community and employer partners to the Network.
  • Conduct research on potential employer partners to identify career pathways within the organization and determine fit for the Network.
  • Steward and track relationships and contact information for potential employer partners within Ascend’s customer relationship management (CRM) tool, Microsoft Dynamics.
  • Support reviewing job descriptions for hundreds of roles across industries to distill and market the information to job seekers in a more accessible and digestible way via the Network.
  • Systematically check roles on the Network and remove those that have been filled or are no longer available to ensure candidates have a high-quality job search experience.
  • Enhance Ascend’s ability to collect and share data generated by the prospecting and outreach process.
  • Create memos and instructions to document institutional knowledge and share it with both current and future team members.
  • Organize and archive all work product materials within Ascend’s shared drive.
  • Conduct additional research or high-priority projects as assigned by the Client Success Manager, the Senior Manager of Employer Partnerships, or the Director of Network Operations.
Requirements
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate institution with at least a 3.3 minimum GPA.
  • Excellent analytical, writing, research and project management skills.
  • A detail-oriented self-starter who can be given a need or objective, break it down into executable activities, identify questions that need to be asked, gather priorities and requirements, set and manage to milestones, and then execute effectively.
  • Ability to learn new technology tools and processes quickly. Proficiency in Microsoft Suite preferred.
  • Track record of successfully working collaboratively within a team.
  • Demonstrate ethical handling of confidential information.

  • Office location: 16 Tech, downtown Indianapolis, with hybrid work (in office Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays)
  • Required internship hours: up to 40 hours per week
  • Pay Rate: $15 / hr
  • Travel: Limited
