SUMMARY
The Associate Director-Operations is responsible for managing the performance of multiple manufacturing facilities including safety, quality, environmental, production, conversion costs and compliance with divisional and other corporate policies and procedures. Plant locations include Columbus, OH, Franklin, OH, Westfield, MA, Woodbridge, ON, and Concord, ON.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Leads and Manages Plant Managers for multiple sites based on common products, technologies, and geography.
Plans and coordinates the work of plant management staff
Oversees staff and ensures that they meet goals and objectives
Identify, attract, hire, and train staff
Identifies key talent within the organization and creates development plans for future growth opportunities
Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive
Provides training and mentoring as needed
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
May include, but are not limited to, the following:
Manage, lead, and direct all responsibilities associated with multiple manufacturing facilities.
Direct reporting responsibilities for Plant Manager(s) of the assigned facilities
Oversight and effective management of key personnel to ensure "best in class" performance in key areas; Safety, Production, Quality, Preventative Maintenance, and Cost reduction/optimization
Identifies growth options with Operations Director and peers as appropriate, based on Siding and Trim Solutions strategy
Plans and coordinates major projects including installation of capital, major repairs, plant layout changes, and other needs as identified.
Responsible for keeping the Director-Operations updated on all performance metrics (monthly at a minimum) and more frequently based on need and criticality
Audits and ensures the operation of the plants to meets OSHA, EPA regulations and Company standards
Conduct or participate in periodic performance and communication meetings with all employees to share corporate vision, plant performance status, change management, community involvement activities, training and motivational efforts
Maintain compliance with Royal’s, Westlake’s and regulatory entities’ requirements
Manage plant spending, AFE proposals, annual plant budgets and execution
Train and develop Plant Managers, Production Superintendents and other key management personnel
Manage resources and ensure success of Six Sigma Projects, Profit Improvement Plans, and other cost reduction initiatives
Ensure the effective utilization and availability of plant assets
Oversee safety programs and maintain compliance with all relevant agencies
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
B.S. Engineering or Business or a comparable field
Minimum of five (5) years of progressive manufacturing leadership experience
Preference for previous experience in management of multiple facilities or multiple organizations
Excellent knowledge of plant operations, product quality, cost control and business development
Demonstrated ability to exhibit Westlake Behaviors
Demonstrates excellent problem-solving abilities, and effective management skills
Must be able to effectively communicate in a written and verbal manner
Willing to travel up to 50% as needed
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Employee will be required to travel up to 50% of the time.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, extreme heat, and risk of electrical shock. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places and vibration. The work environment at the facilities can include excessive noise levels, exposure to weather elements, working around or adjacent to moving and mobile equipment and climbing ladders. Appropriate personal protective equipment including hearing protection, steel toe shoes safety glasses and/or hard hats may be required while working in a facility.
