JOB DESCRIPTION:Strategy & Imagining:
- Lead Western into the next decade by crafting and executing an innovative, future-oriented strategic plan rooted in and promoting the educational innovation needed for tomorrow’s graduates Champion initiatives that allow WSST graduates to have the greatest success in college and career Engage stakeholders, including families, staff, community partners, board members, and donors, in a collective and inclusive process to create a shared vision and commitment to the organization's mission and values.
- Identify and secure innovative ways to hire and retain staff who positively impact student learning Utilize data and metrics to inform decisions and measure the impact of Western’s initiatives.
Fundraising & Relationship Management:
- Elevate our organization's financial resources by cultivating new funding relationships (from local to global), establishing innovative funding sources, and nurturing existing partnerships.
- Spearhead the development and execution of a robust fundraising strategy, building from the current funding base derived primarily from federal and state funding sources.
- Passionately communicate the organization's mission through compelling storytelling to drive philanthropy and dynamic revenue generation.
Culture, Belonging & People Management:
- Foster an inclusive and supportive culture and establish systems to sustain this culture among staff, consultants, board members, and visitors.
- Lead and motivate a diverse team where each member is valued and listened to, promoting regular collaboration and setting high-performance expectations.
- Provide assistance and oversee the Senior Staff, a team of seasoned professionals responsible for managing academic instruction, community engagement, and discipline.
Operations, Budget & Administration:
- Oversee the management of the operations of the school through systems review processes, ensuring data collection and refinement of school systems on a consistent basis.
- Lead and make final high-level decisions across all operational facets, including safety, HR, Title 9, etc., demonstrating comprehensive responsibility for overall school operations.
- Exercise prudent financial planning and resource management while providing timely reporting to the board and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with the board to develop sound governance practices, strategic planning, and fiduciary oversight.
- Ensure compliance with a variety of agency requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Demonstrated commitment to advancing educational outcomes for all students, with a strong understanding of the charter landscape in Arizona, and preferably possessing experience in high school or middle school administration.
- Proven track record of at least three years at a non-profit or school leadership level, showcasing successful fundraising through philanthropy and other channels, focusing on maintaining revenue aligned with the organization's mission. Proven ability to secure gifts at the $5k level and above, coupled with experience managing budgets exceeding $500k-preferred background in unrestricted giving.
- Experience supervising multiple team members, adept at leading through influence, and a track record of making and implementing decisions that significantly impact organizational direction and outcomes. Expertise in cultivating and sustaining trust-based partnerships with diverse communities, team members, community leaders, funding partners, and peer organizations. Proven ability to navigate government agencies and collaborate with policy-makers.
- Possess a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university and a valid Arizona IVP fingerprint clearance card. Preference is given to candidates with experience in the target community or a demographically similar one and those with bilingual proficiency, particularly in Spanish.

- Knowledge of school budgets, grant applications, and fundraising efforts.

Development: Secure funding and partnerships to bring our vision to life, both by strengthening existing revenue streams and creating new ones through grant writing, donor cultivation, partnerships, and events.
Community-Building: Establish and maintain robust relationships with ADE, ASBCS, ACSA, TFA, and other charter leaders to ensure Western is represented in strategic discussions.
Internal Community-Building: Foster and nurture relationships within the Western Community, Board of Directors, and Staff.

Compensation: $90-120k based on experience with additional yearly performance based bonuses.

Location: All team members work on-site at the Western School of Science and Technology located in Phoenix, AZ, with some flexibility for remote work.
