Ballet Theatre of Phoenix is Hiring a Ballet School Director Near Phoenix, AZ

School Director | Ballet Theatre of Phoenix

POSITION AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The School Director is responsible for conceiving, developing and implementing the artistic vision and focus of BTP and the educational curriculum for the school articulating this vision internally and to the community. The School Director will plan and execute the BTP’s productions, education and training programs. They will possess a clear understanding of and commitment to the heritage of classical ballet while having the ability to move and mold the art form into the future, building greater audience engagement. The expectation is that the next School Director will bring a breadth of artistic perspective. The Search Committee will consider candidates who have not previously held School Director positions, but applicants will need to have experience in artistic management and/or artistic administration.

QUALIFICATIONS

Although no one individual will likely meet all criteria, these qualifications will guide and inform the Search Committee in determining its next School Director:

· Bachelor's degree preferred.

· Must have a minimum of 3 years experience as a supervisor.

· Must have a minimum of 3 years experience with children in a developmental setting.

· Possess strong interpersonal communication skills.

· Must have valid Driver's License and reliable transportation.

· Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.

· Proficiency in Google Drive, Dropbox, Microsoft Office

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

· Oversee all operations of Ballet Theatre of Phoenix programs and departments programs to ensure the highest quality training.

· Oversee the hiring, training, development, and supervision of staff team to include Instructors, Office Staff, and Interns.

· Weekly staff meetings as needed to meet the needs of the school.

· Administrative duties include budget management, employee timecard approval and management, staff scheduling, working with marketing team to create promotional materials, supervising communication between the school and families, and others as the need arises.

· Represents and promotes Ballet Theatre of Phoenix by developing positive working and collaborative relationships with all key school personnel and families.

· Fosters a climate of innovation and resolves problems to ensure member/employee satisfaction.

· Support the Ballet Theatre of Phoenix’s mission through volunteer development and assist in the Annual Campaign.

· Participate in PLIES as well as pertinent outreach programs.

ARTISTRY AND TRAINING

· Deep knowledge of classical ballet repertoire as well as modern and contemporary work from diverse choreographers, from both performance and production perspectives.

· A highly accomplished ballet artist – a skilled teacher / coach with the ability to maintain high artistic standards within the school – who has experience in staging and producing.

· A supportive leader with a demonstrated commitment to developing and empowering a diverse school of dancers.

· An abiding commitment to dance training for children, young people, and adults.

LEADERSHIP

· Ability to articulate an exciting and inspirational vision.

· A strategic thinker and planner, with the desire and ability to work collaboratively with a Production Director, Convergence Ballet Director, and a Board of Directors.

PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES

· Engaged and open-minded, eager to explore multiple viewpoints and perspectives and willing to transform and grow.

· Strong social and interpersonal skills and a desire to represent the Ballet in multiple contexts.

· A deep commitment to developing dancers, from early training through professional career.

· A desire to be part of the Phoenix community.

COMPENSATION AND START DATE

The salary ($45K , private lessons additional income) The School hopes to make its decision by late 2024, with the new School Director onsite by fall 2024.
