Overview:

The purpose of the internship is to provide meaningful professional hands-on experience to students with leadership potential and proven academic performance. Werfen hires students majoring in Engineering and Life Sciences fields into this internship program based on business need. Ideal candidates will combine technical and business knowledge with analytical strength and creative problem-solving abilities. 

Responsibilities

Position Description

• Prepares journal entries and reports for daily, weekly, and monthly reporting
• Helps the cash application team
• Files and maintains clerical records and reports pertinent information to accounting and bookkeeping or technical operations
• Assist with the preparation of month-end accounts receivable statements, reports, and analysis
• Perform other duties as assigned
• Learn the process of documenting work performed on projects and communicating effectively with supervisors and peers
• Gain a further understanding of the accounting system and monthly accounting cycle
• Develop techniques to reconcile accounts on the general ledger and sub-ledger to resolve discrepancies as they relate to accounts payable and accounts receivable 

Key Attributes 

• Requires confidence in using Microsoft Excel tools, Attention to detail, Strong organizational skills.
• Requires Enthusiasm, motivation, initiative and ability to work within an interactive and energetic workplace.

Qualifications

Minimum Knowledge & Experience Required for the Position:

• Currently pursuing B.S. in Finance with a minimum of 2 college semesters complete.
• Must have completed introductory accounting courses and have a basic understanding of financial principles.
• Ability to multitask.
