About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking a Software Engineering Senior Manager who will manage a group of technologies and capabilities within the Retail Core Operations space which includes the following:
- Customer Transaction & Execution (CTE) - ATM exceptions, ATM Debit Card Support, Account Closure and Partial Withdrawals by Mail, Balance Confirmation Services, Deposit corrections, Data perfection/ balancing for deposits, Treasury management operations, Exception payments, Return item processing / research, Overall payment monitoring, Transaction Recovery
- Asset Deployment & Account Settlement (ADAS) - Reconcile accounts, Manage the Company’s check clearing activities, Unclaimed Property, Issue Management and Control
- Check Modernization - Modernizing/consolidating/re-platforming the check processing applications to streamline technology to deliver continuous improvement
- Deposit Legal Services (DLS) - Deposit Regulatory Reporting, Legal Support, Product Open & Account Maintenance
In support of this role, the leader will perform the following:
- Manage, coach, and develop a team or teams of experienced engineers and engineering managers in roles with moderate complexity and risk, responsible for building high quality capabilities with modern technology
- Ensure adherence to the Banking Platform Architecture, and meeting non-functional requirements with each release
- Partner with, engage and influence architects and experienced engineers to incorporate Wells Fargo Technology technical strategies, while understanding next generation domain architecture and enable application migration paths to target architecture; for example cloud readiness, application modernization, data strategy
- Function as the technical representative for the product during cross-team collaborative efforts and planning
- Identify and recommend opportunities for driving escalated resolution of technology roadblocks including code, build and deployment while also managing overall software development cycle and security standards
- Determine appropriate strategy and actions to act as an escalation partner for scrum masters and the teams to meet moderate to high risk deliverables and help remove impediments, obstacles, and friction while encouraging constant learning, experimentation, and continual improvement
- Build engineering skills side-by-side in the codebase, conduct peer reviews to evaluate quality and solution alignment to technical direction, and guide design, as needed
- Interpret, develop and ensure security, stability, and scalability within functions of technology with moderate complexity, as well as identify, manage and mitigate technology and enterprise risk
- Collaborate with, partner with and influence Product Managers/Product Owners to drive user satisfaction, influence technology requirements and priorities in the product roadmap, promote innovative and intelligent solutions, generate corporate value and articulate technical strategy while being a solid advocate of agile and DevOps practices
- Interact directly with third party vendors and technology service providers
- Manage allocation of people and financial resources to ensure commitments are met and align with strategic objectives in technology engineering
- Hire, build and guide a culture of talent development to have the skills required to effectively design and deliver innovative solutions for product areas and products to meet business objectives and strategy, as well as conduct performance management for engineers and managers
Required Qualifications, US:
- 6 years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
- 3 years of Management experience
- 2 years in Agile development, Customer Engagement & Satisfaction, secure coding practices, Dev-ops.
- 2 years experience supporting applications for Operations line of business
Desired Qualifications:
- Leadership and people management experience in a large-scale technology environment
- Experience in Retail Core Operations Technology roles: check processing and legal order processing.
- Proven record of delivery across organizational lines.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Build support for strategies with business and technology leaders.
- Experience managing multiple or large technology infrastructure components.
- Refined and professional verbal and written communications, who can also assist in building and presenting complex topics to Executive management in multiple mediums.
- Problem solving and analytical skills with ability to turn findings into strategic imperatives,
- Ability to manage to concurrent competing and changing deadlines, quickly assess issue and concerns while bringing those issues to quick resolution.
- Proactive innovator, motivator, and change agent; able to lead change effectively and constructively in an organization.
- Experience creating and achieving a desired future state vision through influence on individual and group goals, reinforcements, and systems.
- Follow risk management guidelines and partner with stakeholders to implement key risk initiatives.
- Good Experience in following technologies:
- Java, J2EE, PEGA
- Oracle / SQL Server & NoSQL DB like Mongo DB.
- Angular or React
- Cloud (PCF, GCP or AWS)
- Micro Services
- CI/CD Automation and its toolset
- Domain & Event driven design
- Experience deploying automation and cognitive and science-based techniques to manage data, predict scenarios and prescribe actions, with an eye on customer compliance.
- Must have solid understanding of current and future trends and practices in Technology.
- Demonstrated experience motivating and influencing groups or individuals across organizational boundaries to gain trust and confidence to make timely decisions.
- Experienced in strategic design and development for enterprise scale development organizations, driving speed, stability, and quality of delivery.
