As a Director of Software Engineering at JPMorgan Chase within the Consumer and Community Banking Core Deposits line of business, you lead a technical area and drive impact within teams, technologies, and projects across departments. Utilize your in-depth knowledge of software, applications, technical processes, and product management to drive multiple complex projects and initiatives, while serving as a primary decision maker for your teams and be a driver of innovation and solution delivery.

Job responsibilities

• Leads technology and process implementations to achieve functional technology objectives
• Delivers solutions leveraging modern technologies including cloud backed APIs and microservices utilizing distributed database technologies.
• Assesses and manages a strong pool of talent in order to build a diverse and inclusive team and culture within the organization
• Manages all aspects of technology delivery.
• Oversees decisions that influence teams’ resources, budget, tactical operations, and the execution and implementation of processes and procedures
• Carries governance accountability for coding decisions, control obligations, and measures of success such as cost of ownership, maintainability, and portfolio operations
• Delivers technical solutions that can be leveraged across multiple businesses and domains
• Influences peer leaders and senior stakeholders across the business, product, and technology teams
• Champions the firm’s culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• Formal training or certification on software engineering* concepts and 10 years applied experience. In addition, 5 year of experience leading technologists to manage, anticipate and solve complex technical items within your domain of expertise and more broadly across the organization. Experience developing or leading large or cross-functional teams of technologists
• Ability to work collaboratively in teams and develop meaningful relationships to achieve common goals.
• Experience with developing and managing large scale platforms with strong understanding of complex distributed systems running on hybrid infrastructure (on premises, private and private cloud environments)
• Deep expertise building and operating large scale high performance environments with distributed systems and cloud technologies (AWS, GCP, Azure, etc.)
• Deep expertise with enterprise design patterns and industry best practices with experience using modern technology (e.g., Java, Cassandra, Kafka) and design patterns (e.g., microservices, APIs).
• Experience developing or leading cross-functional teams of technologists
• Experience with hiring, developing, and recognizing talent
• Experience leading a product as a Product Owner or Product Manager
• Practical cloud native experience
• Expertise in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field
